关于我们

The MetroHealth System is redefining health care by going beyond medical treatment to improve the foundations of community health and well-being: affordable housing, a cleaner environment, economic opportunity and access to fresh food, convenient transportation, legal help and other services. The system strives to become as good at preventing disease as it is at treating it. Founded in 1837, Cuyahoga County’s safety-net health system operates four hospitals, four emergency departments, more than 20 health centers and 40 additional sites.

  • Like so many caregivers at MetroHealth, our physicians’ skills are in high demand. They could take their talents anywhere, but they choose to be here because they are dedicated to our mission. They believe that everyone deserves expert healthcare, no matter where they live, where they were born or how much money they have. So, when we wish “Happy Doctors Day” to our nearly 700 physicians, what we really mean is, thank you for your service. Thank you for building bonds of trust and respect with your patients, who don’t always find that in other areas of their lives. Thank you for knowing your patients’ stories and carrying them with you after clinic and office hours are over. Thank you for taking the time to learn the challenges your patients face beyond their diagnosis that could be affecting their health and referring them to services within MetroHealth that can help. Thank you for your commitment to our patients and our mission.

  • Over the past 10 years, Ohio has seen 350 pharmacies close their doors, with a disproportionate number of them in neighborhoods and communities that can least afford them to leave. That's why today we celebrated the opening of a new pharmacy within our Brooklyn Health Center. The retail pharmacy will join 11 other MetroHealth pharmacies in providing convenient and affordable medications to our patients and neighbors within and around the Brooklyn neighborhood. In addition to offering affordable prescription and over-the-counter medication, the Brooklyn Health Center pharmacy will provide 13 different immunizations available without an appointment. The services offered will help keep our community healthy and away from serious – and costly – health issues. We'd like to thank the many community leaders who joined us for the celebration, including but not limited to Kristopher Harsh, Cleveland City Council Member, Ward 13; Yvonne Conwell, Vice President of the Cuyahoga County Council, District 7; and Martin Sweeney, County Council Member, District 13. • Several of our clinical colleagues were celebrated for their compassionate care during the latest installment of the annual Medical Staff Awards. Robert Smith, PhD, was presented with the inaugural 2024 Medical Staff Presidential Award. Dr. Smith was chosen by Medical Staff President Natalie Joseph, MD, for embodying MetroHealth's mission and culture. Dr. Smith has been with MetroHealth since 2012 and is the Medical Director of the Medical Staff Assistance Program. In his work, "Dr. Bob" demonstrates his commitment to our medical staff and their families every day. Wayne Snyder Jr., APRN-CNP, Hospital Medicine, and Susan Santos, MD, Department of Pediatrics, were recipients of the Joseph Carter Compassionate Care Award. The recognition is awarded to colleagues that have demonstrated clear and measurable results in achieving organizational goals, teamwork, leadership, and high-quality patient care.
