To ensure a smooth ride for Capital Bikeshare customers in Arlington, VA, MetroBike worked with the adjacent property developer for Amazon’s east coast headquarters and Arlington County staff to design and construct a bi-level Capital Bikeshare station island with smooth roll-on / roll-off access from the adjacent protected bike lane. As shown in the photo, the 19-dock station area is at the same grade as the protected bike lane; however, on the three sides surrounding the station, the?island is raised 6 in. (15 cm) above street level like a standard curb. The new design?is intended to increase safety for everyone by physically separating the station area and bike lane from moving motor vehicles.?? ????????????????????????????????
