#RenewableEnergy Developers, are you ready for Michigan’s new #Siting law, #PublicAct233? Here’s a quick overview: 1. New siting option: #PA233 creates a secondary siting option at the Michigan Public Service Commission for renewable energy developers in townships lacking appropriate siting ordinances. 2. Applicable projects: Renewable plants with the capacity to significantly impact the grid, including 50MW solar farms, 100MW wind farms, and 50MW energy storage facilities or larger. 3. NO Eminent Domain: developers must have willing landowners. 4. Cost to developers: In addition to predevelopment activities, this siting law requires the developer to pay $75,000 to the municipality for each case submitted to the #MPSC. 5. Community presence: Trustworthy and respectful relationships with residents in the community are CRUCIAL to the development’s success. Effective digital asset management systems hold the key to capital improvement plans. Our Water Distribution Asset Management Plan project for the City of Rockwood is a prime example. While our municipal team completed field investigations to identify and capture locations for hydrants, valves, meter pits, and curb stops, our financial experts analyzed the current water rates and budgets. This data was digitized into a GIS database for the City’s management and informed of the city’s capital improvement plan for both five- and 20-year planning cycles.
