We make an essential product that improves everyday life and provides solutions for a sustainable future. We are the world’s largest producer and supplier of methanol to major international markets in Asia Pacific, North America, Europe and South America. Our methanol production sites are located in the United States, New Zealand, Trinidad, Chile, Egypt and Canada. We are headquartered in Vancouver, Canada, and the company’s common shares trade on the Toronto Stock Exchange under the symbol MX and on the NASDAQ Global Select Market under the symbol MEOH. Methanol is essential to everyday life today, and a pathway to a low-carbon future tomorrow. As a key chemical building block or as a fuel, when made from renewable sources, methanol can help society achieve its decarbonization goals. Methanol is an essential chemical building block for hundreds of consumer and industrial products, including paints, carpets, fabrics, building materials, and a variety of health and pharmaceutical products. It’s also difficult to substitute based on its unique chemistry, scale, ease of transport and cost. A cleaner-burning fuel, methanol can help improve air quality by reducing emissions compared to traditional fuels such as diesel or coal. As it can be made from renewable sources, methanol fuel can also help society achieve its decarbonization goals. Methanex can be visited online at https://www.methanex.com.

Since 2016, Waterfront Shipping has been bunkering methanol from most of our production sites, and we continue to demonstrate methanol bunkering in an increasing number of ports that have methanol infrastructure. For example, we have delivered methanol as a fuel at our terminals in Ulsan, Korea; Shanghai and Taicang, China; Amsterdam- Rotterdam-Antwerp in Europe; and Houston, U.S., and demonstrated methanol bunkering with a chemical barge or vessel in Rotterdam, Netherlands; Gothenburg, Sweden; and Point Lisas anchorage in Trinidad and Tobago. We focus on demonstrating ship-to-ship bunkering because it provides the highest degree of refuelling flexibility to shipping companies. Ship-to-ship bunkering is the primary way ships receive their fuel. Although global regulations for methanol bunkering are still being developed, we continue to prove that methanol is safe to ship, store, handle, and bunker using procedures similar to those used for conventional marine fuels. We plan to continue this work in 2025 by establishing bunkering partnerships for methanol in at least two ports. Learn more in our Sustainability Report here: https://lnkd.in/gnWWCBZc

2024 was a record safe year at Methanex. The team achieved our lowest recordable injury frequency rate ever, with 0.09 injuries per 200,000 hours worked. This places Methanex in the top ten per cent for safety performance among the American Chemistry Council’s Responsible Care members. We also had our best process safety performance in seven years, achieving zero Tier 1 process safety events in 2024. This record was made possible by our strong safety culture across the company, which we continue to place as our top priority. Our team did an outstanding job fostering constant hazard awareness and engaging in courageous conversations in how we plan and execute work every day. Thank you to our team for the ongoing commitment to Responsible Care around the globe. Safety is a constant journey and we must continue striving for our goal of zero harm. We’ve launched our 2024 Sustainability Report, sharing some of the accomplishments made possible by the hard work and collective effort of our team members globally. We’re particularly proud of our team’s ongoing commitment to safety, resulting in a record safe year at Methanex, all while navigating major operational changes, including starting production at our G3 plant in Geismar, switching our Trinidad and Tobago operations from our Atlas plant to our Titan plant, and shifting New Zealand operations from two plants to one. The team also made progress towards our commitment to advancing low-carbon solutions, including reducing our GHG emissions and making investments to advance projects, such as our carbon capture, utilization and sequestration (CCUS) project in Medicine Hat, which we progressed to a Preliminary Front-End Engineering Design phase. Our subsidiary, Waterfront Shipping, continues to prove that methanol is safe to ship, store, handle and bunker using procedures similar to those used for conventional marine fuels, including conducting the first methanol ship-to-ship bunkering at the Port of Point Lisas in Trinidad and Tobago. We are committed to ensuring our workplace is inclusive for all current and future team members, and to creating a positive impact in the communities around our operations. In 2024, our team members supported 390 different organizations with almost US$2 million in giving and 6,500 volunteering hours. Over the next few weeks, we’ll share a few highlights of the report in our posts. Check out the full Sustainability Report here: https://heyor.ca/gBcBTm

Congratulations to our Waterfront Shipping team on achieving a significant milestone—the official opening of a subsidiary office, Waterfront Tanker Services Pte Ltd (WTS), in Singapore. WTS is a wholly owned subsidiary of Waterfront Shipping, a joint venture between Methanex and Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. Singapore is the commercial epicentre of shipping in Asia, and this presence strengthens Waterfront Shipping’s ability to provide enhanced service quality with improved time zone coverage and closer proximity to key partners, reinforcing its leadership in the maritime industry. A big thank you to our partners, customers, and industry leaders—including the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA)—who joined us to commemorate this occasion. The Waterfront Tanker Services team will provide shipping-related services to Waterfront Shipping, including logistics, technical, operations, and commercial chartering support.

Methanol can be used as a fuel for thermal applications, including industrial boilers, kilns, heating furnaces and cooking fuel. When used in thermal applications, it has significantly lower air emissions (NOx, SOx, and particulate matter) than coal and other fossil fuels. Methanol-fuelled boilers in China generate heat and steam for industrial applications, and methanol provides a heat source for commercial and residential applications like kilns and cooking stoves. It’s also used in applications that harness clean energy, such as solar panels and wind turbines. Methanol is a clear, biodegradable liquid that is integral to our day-to-day lives. Methanol is essential to everyday life today, and a pathway to a low-carbon future tomorrow. As a key chemical building block or as a fuel, when made from renewable sources, methanol can help society achieve its decarbonization goals. As a marine fuel, methanol can reduce emissions of SO× (sulfur oxide) and particulate matter by more than 95 per cent and NO× (nitric oxide) by up to 80 per cent. A cleaner-burning fuel than diesel and gasoline, methanol is used to fuel cars, buses and trucks. Methanol is also used to produce fuel additives (MTBE) to help reduce tail-pipe emissions and in the production of biodiesel which is a diesel substitute. It’s a clear, biodegradable liquid that is integral to our day-to-day lives today, and plays a key role in a more sustainable tomorrow. We’re looking forward to continuing to make a positive impact in the communities where we operate. Here's a look back at the contributions some of our regional teams made locally in late 2024. Mentoring for Intermediate School Students In New Zealand, we’ve renewed our sponsorship of Ngā Mātāwaka Hapai, a mentoring program for students in Grades 7-9, helping to provide emotional support and a safe space for students to thrive. The program is built on Māori concepts including Whakawhanaungatanga (building strong relationships and connecting with others), Turangawaewae (creating a place where students feel empowered and at home), and Kaitiakitanga (guardianship of our community). Magallanes Rehabilitation Days The team at our site in Punta Arenas, Chile, proudly participated in the 37th Jornadas por la Rehabilitación in Chile’s Magallanes region. The event brings together community members in support of local community organizations. Team members contributed through various activities, including fundraising events and volunteering efforts, to support the work of the local Lions Club Chapter, Club de Leones Cruz del Sur. Decent Jobs for Egypt’s Young People Our team in Egypt launched the second phase of their partnership with the International Labour Organization (ILO) to support youth employment in Damietta. Overall, phase 2 will create 1,000 jobs, prioritizing women, green jobs, and inclusivity for people with disabilities. This will be made possible through programs: "Get Ahead", “Job Search Club”, and “Start Your Business”, which has already trained 2,808 beneficiaries and created 848 jobs since the beginning of their partnership in 2018. We’re proud of our team members and grateful for the continued enthusiasm they have in partnering with local collaborators to make a positive difference together.
