Ever thought to hear what nature has to say? Scientists in Australia are using ecoacoustics, or the study of environmental sounds, to assess ecosystem health by “listening” to soils. Ayurella Horn-Muller explains how this first-of-its-kind research is helping scientists monitor soil health for Grist. https://lnkd.in/eS_ZAA_f

Well we just loved this "situation!" At Metcalf Institute and hope that anyone else who hasn't hit reply all takes a minute to tell us all what's been happening since a fellowship or training brought you to this wonderful community!
'At the risk of creating a Reply All situation that never ends...' began the best Reply All thread ever, from Jesse Hirsch asking alumni of the Metcalf Institute's Marine and Environmental Reporting program (I was in the cohort of '09) to share what we've been up to. Covering topics from evangelicals to boobies, whales to mycelium, links to so many cool stories, projects, books, blogs, podcasts, and news outlets came flooding in. The creativity and dedication of this group of writers and communicators is incredible ?? Affecting millions across the globe regardless of generation, “climate anxiety” is a reality in today’s world. For the Los Angeles Times, Rosanna Xia ponders what exactly climate anxiety is, and why it’s so important to understand it in this important essay. https://lnkd.in/eCHwBnt4
