We've got a special treat for Metalplant's supporters to celebrate our successful processing of our hyperaccumulator plant biomass into pure nickel products. We are making available to the public some small quantities of hyperaccumulator plant-derived nickel HyperNickel?, carbon dioxide removal credits through enhanced rock weathering HyperWeathering? CDR,?and the combined product of the two a carbon-negative nickel, NegativeNickel?. And as a bonus (scroll down on page) and you'll see Silicate Valley Olivine? Standard material, we have released some "Founders Edition" options that comes with comes with a stand as part of the "standard". Also have some small pocket ones available for fun :) We have made available for sale: - NegativeNickel? : Carbon-Negative Nickel with the Carbon Removal from Enhanced Rock Weathering (Salt or Ingot), (1Ni:200CDR ratio) - HyperNickel? : "Green" Nickel Salt or Ingots Produced by Hyperaccumulator Plants - HyperWeathering? CDR : Carbon Dioxide Removal Credits produced through Enhanced Rock Weathering combined with Phytomining. - Silicate Valley? Olivine Standard Founders Edition: Olivine specimens hand-selected by a founder of the company from our quarry and innovation hub surrounded by silicate minerals that we call Silicate Valley. https://lnkd.in/e9VCpKMU

"The mining sector's push for fully electric fleets has faced challenges in scaling and is still in commercial development in various use cases. Hybrid drivetrains, however, are gaining momentum with OEMs in the last two years. It's exciting to see Switch Technologies working on these for the mining workhorse, the Toyota Landcruiser ute," shares Jake in the Unearthed team. For those curious about the technologies that may power the next wave of mining innovation, sign up for our weekly newsletter here: https://lnkd.in/g2WqxY2V The top innovators who came across our desk this week: Switch Technologies (Jan Haak) - XNO battery technologies for industrial hybrid 4x4 vehicles.

Introduction to Metalplant and our farms! Metalplant uses nickel hyperaccumulator plants to recover nickel from the soil, while removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere through the process of enhanced rock weathering. Our current operations are in Albania on top of a 500 sq km massive of ultramafic rock where the soils naturally contain nickel and has mountains composed of magnesium silicate minerals like olivine and serpentine. The enhanced weathering of olivine for carbon dioxide removal (CDR) is currently limited in application rates due to the release of nickel into the environment as the rocks break down. By operating the weathering process on naturally nickel-containing soils and then growing hyperaccumulator plants in the fields that can recover the nickel, we can remove large amounts of carbon with minimal risk to the same environment we are trying to save, while producing the metal nickel, which sells for $20,000 per tonne. We harvest the plant biomass and then process it to recover the nickel and get it all the way up to greater than 99% purity. Nickel makes up ~10% of stainless steel and is/will be used in long-range, fast-charging EVs due to its high energy density to weight ratio and anti-cracking properties. Currently, around 3 million tonnes of nickel are mined per year, but that needs to double by 2040 to not slow down the clean energy transition. Our process can produce the extra 3 million tonnes of nickel, while also removing 1 billion tonnes of carbon dioxide. We can use this single stone to solve two of the world's most pressing problems.
