Our final guiding principle in this series reminds us to “Manage the Risks”. Frequently reviewing potential risks to a project can reduce negative impacts before they become issues. We recommend reviewing and managing potential risks in the RAID log at least once per week, or more frequently as the project may require.

The “decide and move on” guiding principle reminds us that important decisions must be made in a timely manner, documenting and acting quickly on those decisions in order to sustain project momentum toward success. Project managers assist in guiding those conversations by ensuring that all relevant details are ready and available throughout the decision-making process.

The 3rd guiding principle is "Involve Me". A large project is likely to touch multiple departments within an organization. Different stakeholder groups will be affected at different times and some will have different communication needs. Leaders own the responsibility of amplifying the message across their department and with peers throughout the organization. Keeping everyone informed and engaged appropriately is a significant task, though one that must be prioritized accordingly.
