A Somatic Practice Creating Space for Growth

关于我们

Messwork is a somatic practice that creates process-oriented interventions for clients. An alternative to traditional therapy, somatics emphasize bottom-up, body-oriented approaches to treat trauma and modify stress responses while supporting alignment, integration, fullness, and consciousness-raising. Designed and run by Cristina (Cri) Gabriele, Messwork emphasizes healing as a process while reclaiming and utilizing its inherent messiness as a tool. Aligning with somatic practices as a transforming through process, Messwork collaborates with clients as living, breathing compositions, seeking to create, form, reform, and rearrange selves and parts into unified wholes, naturally rehabilitating the state of consciousness. Trauma often fractures parts, leading to splits, binds, and disjointedness. Through the co-creative Messwork and Messwork Practice Building process, clients can reconstitute themselves by meeting their trauma and bringing awareness to patterns, defenses, and relational dynamics. Reshaping (messily), as an ongoing practice, helps clear blocks, awareness, and the capacity to contain and feel while supporting a more grounded, robust, and energized existence. Grounded in?Core Energetics, Messwork integrates diverse perspectives throughout the modality, including?Bioenergetic Analysis?and?Parts Work?(comprised of inquiring into discreet sub-personalities), systems thinking, role-playing, and externalizing in service of the organized, integrated whole, focusing on?Psychosomatic Unity, the movement toward creative evolution, and rehabilitation from within.?At Messwork, we view and work with each individual as a holistic entity addressing personal and professional life from a systems-based lens. As such, we believe self-care is an ecosystem of complementary mechanisms. Messwork is its own psychosomatic practice that recognises and works in conjunction with pathological and more traditional therapeutic modalities.

e60: idealised self-image, narcissism, authenticity, and perfectionism. after last week's pod me & cri took our conversation into extra time as there was more ground we wanted to cover more existential ground. cri shared this little know fact that in the 19th century, treadmills were used as a form of punishment in prisons. prisoners sentenced to "hard labor" would climb the steps of a large wheel, causing it to rotate.?the treadmills were designed to be exhausting and pointless, fitting with Victorian ideals about atonement through hard work. WILD. check p2 of the pod with Messwork founder Cristina Gabriele. ?? listen to the full episode at the How Might We Podcast

nurse: the doctor will see you now.... patient: *opens slack i've never had therapy. It took 30 years to start meditating. opening up has been slow. My upbringing frowned on discussing mental health. now, being young hits different. gen Z is hit hard by the mental health crisis. This seems linked to the rise of social media. women are particularly affected. "21% of female gen zers report poor mental health. that's nearly double the 13% of males." To treat this, we need flexibility. New methods are gaining popularity. One example is Messwork, founded by Cristina Gabriele, the latest guest on the How Might We Podcast this week. i'm curious. if your key growth happened on social media or during COVID, are you more likely to be withdrawn? do you crave a less pleasure-seeking life? what do you think? listen to the full episode How Might We Podcast
