Had a blast at Messari Mainnet in NYC! Spoke at a few sessions, reconnected with fellow Messarians, and met a bunch of cool folks at side events. The sessions were on the State of Optimism, State of Rollups, and Architecting Blockchains. It was my first time speaking at a crypto conference. The first of many? It can take a lot of prep work, but was exciting and well worth the effort. I'll post the session recordings along with some insights once they're uploaded! Working remotely, it can be hard to connect in person with fellow crypto professionals and builders. Shout out to the organizers of great side events hosted by 1kx, Collab+Currency, Blockworks, Archetype, and Turnkey before a Messari retreat at Governor's Island to cap off the week. Side note: I absolutely love the energy of NYC. Might have to have a stint there at some point...

I learned a lot from my co-panelists Abhay Navale, Jasmine J., Brent Gerundo and Konstantin Richter On the main stage at Mainnet, I spoke with Danny Nelson about how tokenization and digital assets are becoming critical to our innovation efforts. We touched on the evolution of blockchains and platforms in the ecosystem and mentioned two technologies on our radar: fully homomorphic encryption (FHE) and Zero-knowledge proofs. The last picture is my weekend read credits to Paul Brody, thank you Paul! The last few days have again proved to me that the future of digital assets in financial services is bright and full of potential. Collaboration between technology partners, banks, and service providers is more than healthy and thriving!

In September, venture capitalists invested $960 million into crypto and blockchain companies across 218 deals, reflecting a 31% decline in capital but a 20% increase in deal activity month-over-month. This surge in deals was largely driven by Fall accelerator cohorts, with programs from a16z, Movement Labs, Beacon, and others accounting for 36% of deals and $13.5 million in capital.

I’m in NYC this week for Messari’s #Mainnet2024. Great to see the US House Majority Whip Tom Emmer be actively pro-crypto and pro-Ukraine????. He also successfully led the passing of anti-CBDC legislation in ???? earlier this year.

Watching the conference hall empty out at Messari #mainnet24 and reflecting on the many insights gained over the past three days.
