  • Congratulations to Jose Padron on being inducted into the MISD Apple Corps for December 2024, supported by the MESQUITE ISD EDUCATION FOUNDATION INC and Clay Cooley of Mesquite! Alyssa Navarrete is a fourth-grade teacher at Kimball Elementary School. She has taught for seven years, all with Mesquite ISD. Kimball Principal Bridget Mitchell said, “Ms. Navarrete is a truly exceptional educator whose dedication extends far beyond teaching. She goes above and beyond to create meaningful relationships with each student, empowering them to realize and embrace their full potential.” The Mesquite High School graduate says MISD played a huge role in wanting to become a teacher. “In third grade, I moved to Mesquite, hating school,” she said. “When I moved to this district, I was met with teachers who motivated me and challenged me. I had found an admiration for teaching through those teachers who shaped me, and I remember thinking I wanted to grow up to be just like them.” #MISDExcellence

  • Congratulations to Jose Padron on being inducted into the MISD Apple Corps for December 2024, supported by the MESQUITE ISD EDUCATION FOUNDATION INC and Clay Cooley of Mesquite! Jose Padron is a third-grade bilingual teacher at Florence Black Elementary School. He has spent seven years in education, all in MISD. Black Elementary Principal Darla Franklin said, “Mr. Padron is known for building strong relationships with students, creating a classroom culture where all students feel valued and safe to express themselves. Mr. Padron takes on the mentor role, helping students navigate social or emotional challenges.” The former Black Elementary Teacher of the Year attributes his passion for teaching to his upbringing. “Growing up on the border of the United States and Mexico instilled in me the value of education,” he said. “The interpersonal relationships I created with my teachers during my formative years created a love of learning and a passion to share that with others. It’s rewarding to know I’m helping set my students up for a bright future.” #MISDExcellence

  • On Thursday, August 1, we kicked off the new school year with our Convocation event, welcoming over 5,000 employees back to Mesquite ISD! It was a day filled with energy, excitement, and a powerful message that resonated with us all: LOVE. ?? And, Superintendent ángel Rivera reminded us of the many different ways we can LOVE our students this year. #MesquiteISDLove #ExcellenceHappensHere
