The Mesoamerican Territorial Fund (FTM) is an alternative financial mechanism created by the Mesoamerican Alliance of Peoples and Forests (AMPB), designed by and for Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities (IPLCs). Our goal is to promote direct investment with a rights-based approach in key territories of Mesoamerica, ensuring processes that are efficient, effective, and with reduced transaction costs, all within a framework of clear protocols and accountability.
Providing continuous, culturally adapted support to IPLC organizations. Through training, capacity-building, and specialized methodologies, we strengthen their institutional and governance capacities, promoting sustainability and maximizing both the quantitative and qualitative impact of investments.
We work in collaboration with AMPB’s strategic areas, such as the Mesoamerican Leadership School (EML) and the Coordinator of Territorial Women Leaders (CMLT), to ensure a comprehensive and effective intervention in the territories.
We also support strategic initiatives defined by the communities themselves, as well as those with the potential to be replicable, scalable, or to become public policy. Our thematic funding windows include:
- Climate change mitigation and adaptation.
- Biodiversity conservation and sustainable management of natural resources.
- Governance and rights of Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities.
Sustainable Indigenous and community enterprises.
Our cross-cutting themes are youth, gender, and social inclusion, ensuring that each project has an equitable and meaningful impact on the communities.
