2024 was a year of challenges, growth, and new partnerships that will last a lifetime. When establishing our firm we set out with a mission and goals like no other lobbying firm in California, to strengthen political power for Latinos and communities of color. We appreciate all our partner organizations who took a chance on us and trusted us to represent their communities in Sacramento, especially when the state was facing a budget deficit that placed critical social services on the chopping block. We look forward to rolling up our sleeves to protect our communities in California and beyond in 2025.

Last week our firm had the privilege to partner with Brown Issues and the California Latino Capitol Association Foundation during their annual Policy Boot Camp they host for youth from the Sacramento region to provide them insight on the ins and outs of the legislature and the legislative process. This year we taught the youth the importance of their voice and different ways to shape public opinion for the purposes of advocacy in addition to having them organize a mock press conference within a matter of minutes. The Mesa Verde Group is committed to our mission of being part of the solution to build and train talented members of our community to be the advocates for the communities that we serve.

Today the city of Los Angeles passed a #Sanctuary ordinance to ensure that the city doesn't spend any of its resources on carrying out the incoming administrations immigration enforcement activities. We were happy to stand in solidarity with our partners during this critical moment as we prepare to protect all Californians.

Last week we joined our partner, the Loyola Law School, Los Angeles Immigrant Justice Clinic, to attend the Encuentro de Clínicas Jurídicas de litigio estratégico en derechos humanos y asilo at ITESO Universidad Jesuita de Guadalajara to work with the clinic's colleagues from law schools from both the United States and Mexico on how to best serve immigrant communities as practitioners in both countries. We look forward to continue to support the work of the Loyola Law School Immigrant Justice Clinic and its partners in Mexico and the United States.

We were proud to sponsor California Latino Capitol Association Foundation Viva Latino Awards this year were our friend Rita Medina and partners at CHIRLA were awarded for being amazing advocates. When we established our firm we did so with the intent to assist in building and fostering the next generation of Latino advocates and we are proud that within our first year we are carrying out our goal.
