Merrick is fueling the future of aviation! We proudly support the U.S. SAF Grand Challenge, which aims to produce 35 billion gallons of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) annually by 2050. Using our deep expertise in both bioprocessing and oil, gas, and chemicals, we’re engineering innovative solutions across multiple SAF pathways. Recently, we hosted an internal SAF Summit to explore how we can further support technology development and scale-up across all SAF pathways. Together with our clients, we’re driving the shift toward a more sustainable aviation industry!???? Check out some of the insights from our summit on the key challenges of SAF production. #wearemerrick

Merrick’s first annual Cultural Celebration Week is here—a time when employees across our offices can share their cultural backgrounds through food and stories. As we break bread together and learn about culture (and food!) around the world, we celebrate the many cultures that make Merrick great! Thank you to everyone participating and bringing this new tradition to life! #wearemerrick #ourmerrick #merrickcareers

At Merrick, we take complex nuclear projects and integrate them to work together seamlessly. We design both facilities and the equipment inside, integrating every part to deliver a complete solution. From advanced reactors to medical isotope production, and across both fusion and fission technologies, we can handle it. Others might excel at facility design or equipment integration, but we do both—and we do it well. From front-end design and regulatory application through commissioning, we bring it all together delivering a cohesive, precise outcome on a reputable schedule. #wearemerrick

As industries strive to reduce their carbon footprints, carbon capture and storage (CCS) has become a critical component in achieving net-zero emissions. This was demonstrated by our recent work on a groundbreaking carbon capture project with an ethanol-to-jet fuel customer. The project’s goal? Achieving net-zero carbon emissions by capturing CO2 from fermentor scrubbers and injecting it into carbon sequestration wells, drastically reducing the carbon intensity of the entire process. So, how did we do it? We designed a system for CO2 clean-up, compression, refrigeration, and storage, all while maintaining the necessary purity for delivery. Our team provided comprehensive engineering services, including process simulations, mechanical and civil studies, and control system design. Facing utility capacity limits, we also designed a closed-loop ammonia refrigeration system, ensuring a sustainable solution without expanding the plant's existing cooling system. We’re proud to be a part of the growing movement towards carbon capture and storage—a key technology in mitigating climate impacts on a large scale, all while delivering economic and environmental value. #wearemerrick

Did you know? Our commitment to nuclear safety and reliability has been backed by our successful ASME NQA-1 Quality Assurance (QA) Program for more than 20 years. In that time, our NQA-1 program has supported the Department of Energy and Department of Defense at key sites like the Los Alamos National Laboratory, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, and the Savannah River Site. Our QA team not only develops and maintains our own NQA-1 program, but also works closely with our clients, fabricators, vendors, and other partner organizations to create and implement essential procedures to ensure rigorous standards are met at each stage of a project. We also help provide and encourage a continuous feedback loop to ensure standards continue to be met. We take pride in upholding the highest standards of safety and quality in the industry. Check out the key steps to creating a harmonized QA program below. #wearemerrick

Several of our employee owners recently participated in a creek cleanup event along the Fountain Creek Watershed in Colorado, removing so much trash debris they had to use shopping carts found within the stream to move the trash! Our efforts were part of a larger cleanup event consisting of 68 individual cleanup crews spanning 84 cleanup sites in 8 communities. Our team contributed to the overall 19.3 TONS of trash and debris removed from the watershed and surrounding areas. We’re proud to contribute to stream and watershed restoration at work and in our time off. Together, we can make positive impacts in our local communities! #wearemerrick #ourmerrick

Meet Kyria Bosma, PE! Kyria brings a passion for public health and creative problem solving to Merrick’s water/wastewater team. Growing up in a small Colorado mountain town fueled her dedication to keeping all communities' water sources clean and safe for future generations. Kyria finds the most rewarding projects are those that connect her with those communities, like the small town of Silt, CO where she designed a water treatment plant to meet local needs. At Merrick, she’s excited to continue refining her skills to deliver solutions that support each of our clients’ unique water and wastewater goals. #wearemerrick
