Meritus Health welcomed the Ambassador of Albania in Washington, D.C., Ervin Bushati, to our campus. The ambassador toured the campus with Gentian Toshkezi, M.D., head of neurosurgery who is originally from Albania. Mr. Bushati also met with Adrian Park, M.D., Meritus surgeon in chief and clinical innovation officer. “This is a great opportunity and challenge to connect our two countries and experiences,” he said, extending an official invite to Dr. Park and other Meritus physicians to exchange ideas about medicine with their counterparts in Albania.

In honor of those who gave the ultimate sacrifice on Sept. 11, 2001, and those who responded to the nation’s call in the aftermath, the Meritus Veterans Employee Resource Group held a ceremony in the flag court in front of the hospital Wednesday morning. After reading the presidential proclamation declaring today Patriot Day and National Day of Service and Remembrance, the American flag was lowered to half-staff. Where were you 23 years ago?

The Meritus Health Care Caller program was implemented in November 2021 to combat the negative effects of a solitary lifestyle, including an increased risk of depression, anxiety, and other health issues. We want to thank the #WashingtonCountyMD delegation in Annapolis for their work in securing a $1.5 million grant to support construction of the proposed Meritus School of Osteopathic Medicine, which is planned to welcome its first class of students in the fall of 2025. The school is expected to bring $750 million in new economic activity to the area. Thank you to state senators Paul Corderman and Mike McKay, and state delegates William Wivell, William Valentine, Brooke Grossman and Terry Baker.
