Thank you to Michigan State University for hosting our celebration of the completion of Moon-Light, Merit Network’s collaboration with MSU to build fiber backbone infrastructure thought-out Michigan, including the Upper Peninsula. Through this project, we've brought reliable internet to 28,000 homes in Michigan, many for the first time! Those are numbers to celebrate! When our community members can confidently navigate the digital world, they can better participate in everything from online shopping to digital celebrations. Watch out for these red flags: ? Urgent messages about "account issues" or "shipping problems" ? Requests for gift card purchases or unusual payment methods ? Unexpected e-cards or holiday promotions from unknown senders ? Pressure to click links or download attachments ? Poor grammar or spelling in official-looking emails By sharing these security tips, we're working to ensure everyone in our Michigan community can participate in the digital world safely and confidently. Born as a pioneering research project in 1966, Merit has grown from connecting Michigan's first universities to becoming one of the world's leading Research and Education Networks. Being purpose-built by Michigan's universities to serve our state's educational and research communities—a mission we continue to this day.
