Our team had a blast serving and connecting with youth in the North Texas community by volunteering with Mercy Street! This organization serves over 2,400 inner-city youth annually through sports, mentorship and leadership institute programs in West Dallas. We brought pizza and a desire to make a positive impact in their lives, but ended up feeling like they were the ones who made the impact on us! #CommunityMatters #NorthTexas #YouthEmpowerment

What a blessing it was to serve with Mercy Street during their spring break week community outreach in West Dallas! The Commerce Bank Dallas team had a blast interacting with and serving the wonderful youth!

Today was such an eventful day! Due to the special ceremony we attended in Plano this morning, we took our normal Wednesday chapel “on the road.” Thank you to One Community Church - Broadcast Campus for hosting our staff, as well as Pastor Kendahl, for delivering an inspiring, timely Word for the week. We also welcomed a new team member, Esmeralda Rodriguez, who joins our Operations Team as the Executive Assistant to our President & CEO. Esmeralda brings a wealth of executive administrative experience and is a published author who also loves to bake. Full circle moment! Our Associate Director of Volunteer & Community Engagement, Estefania Ortiz, who also grew up within the Mercy Street family, achieved United States citizenship surrounded by Mercy Street staff today. Her journey from mentee to full-time staff is a powerful reminder of the impact of community and mentorship. We’re beyond proud of you and happy to celebrate this huge milestone with you. This spring break we launched something special at Mercy Street—our first-ever softball camp! ?? I came up with the idea to partner with my alma mater, The University of Texas at Arlington, and was thrilled when UTA Softball joined us to run drills and inspire our campers. To make it even more special, the North Dallas HS Softball team—where I played in high school—came out to volunteer! Over three days, these incredible athletes shared their knowledge, energy, and love for the game, making a lasting impact on the next generation of players. As a memorable highlight, UTA Softball invited our campers to their game against UTSA, where we got to cheer them on to victory! This camp was more than just a few days of training—it was a full-circle moment for me. I once played softball on these very same fields in West Dallas, and now, I get to help create opportunities for young athletes to fall in love with the game just like I did. A huge thank you to Coach Lauren Foster, the entire UT Arlington Softball team, and the Mercy Street sports staff for helping bring this vision to life.
