At MCV Venture Lab, we test and validate first-of-a-kind solutions that drive climate resilience in emerging markets. ? What we’re testing? With MiCRO - Microinsurance Catastrophe Risk Organisation, we’re exploring new technologies to reduce basis risk in parametric insurance. Our goal is to ensure that smallholder farmers in Guatemala receive timely financial protection against climate shocks—even when existing parametric insurance fails to trigger payouts. ? This pilot is part of our Climate Venture Lab, where we experiment with innovative risk management solutions for climate-vulnerable populations. ? What’s next? We’ll be tracking the effectiveness of alternative loss verification methods—like drones and other tech-enabled solutions—to assess their impact on insurance affordability and farmer trust. This pilot will inform how we scale innovative risk management solutions for smallholder farmers across emerging markets. ? ??
