关于我们
The Mercury Theatre Colchester is the most active producing theatre in the East of England, and is a vital centre of excellence in the East’s growing creative economy. We exist to put theatre at the heart of the cultural life of the community we serve and to make work in Colchester that reaches audiences and generates critical attention regionally and nationally. Rooted in our local community the theatre touches over 130,000 people in Colchester and the surrounding area each year through the vibrant and broad programme we stage across two auditoria, and through community education partnerships. Under the Made in Colchester brand, the Mercury creates theatre which reaches audiences and generates critical attention regionally and nationally. The Mercury is a champion of regional arts, both as an active co-producer with other venues and companies and also touring our own productions to audiences across the UK.

We are very proud to announce we have been shortlisted as a finalist for the Smiley Charity Film Awards with our short film 'Free To Be Me'. Funded by The Essex County Council Art and Cultural Fund, The OutHouse collaborated with Mercury Theatre to create ‘Free to Be Me’ where members from our Youth Project spoke about the support and encouragement they’ve received in finding their voice and to simply feel free. The power to exist openly and freely cannot be overstated. Please watch Free To Be Me here: https://lnkd.in/e4U4Qg_b

We love our Industry Day visits! Thank you so much for joining us and sharing this.
?? Another week & more insight visits ?? Yesterday myself and one of our lovely Careers Officers Sophie headed over to the Mercury Theatre with a group of our amazing students. We got a fantastic insight in to careers within theatres and had so much fun going behind the scenes ?? I personally loved hearing about how the team are ensuring the theatre is both as sustainable and accessible as possible ???? Many thanks to Lisa Warnock for planning the visit with us. To Elodie Gilbert for showing us around on the day. To Forest Morgan for facilitating a great workshop. And everyone else at the Mercury who got involved ????
