From inventing the crumple zone in the 1950s to introducing airbags in the 1980s, Mercedes-Benz has continually engineered systems that help reduce risks in the event of an accident. In 2016, an innovative system was created that can pre-emptively move the front seat vehicle occupant's upper body towards the centre just before a side impact. #PassiveSafety #SafetyInnovation #SafeRoads??

It was a double celebration this week at Mercedes-Benz Research and Development India as we marked our 28th anniversary alongside #KarnatakaRajyotsava! The event showcased the tapestry of Karnataka's cultural heritage with the rhythmic beats of Dollu Kunitha, the dramatic flair of Yakshagana, and nostalgia-stirring musical performances. Bringing fresh energy to the festivities was rap artist Karthik Sundar Gubbi with his captivating performance. A marketplace featuring Channapatna toys and Mysore handloom sarees among other delights further brought the state's artistic heritage to life. Take a glimpse into these vibrant celebrations, where the colours and rhythms of Karnataka came alive at MBRDI. #KannadaRajyotsava #??????????????? Late night. Empty highway. Heavy eyelids. We've all fought that battle.?? In a Mercedes-Benz, you're never alone in staying alert. Our ATTENTION ASSIST technology pioneered 15 years ago, recognises the signs of drowsiness and prompts you with a warning.?? ? What are these signs??? ?? When a driver is alert, they evaluate the position of their car on the road and make subtle, continuous steering adjustments.? ?? When tiredness sets in, they show periods of inactivity followed by sudden steering corrections.?? ? These contrasting behaviours along with journey time and weather conditions are observed by the system's sensors to determine if the driver is becoming drowsy. It then emits audio-visual alerts, suggesting that crucial coffee break.?? ? At Mercedes-Benz Research and Development India, we are proud to be part of this legacy of innovation where safety isn't just a feature, it's in our DNA.? ? #VisionZero #SafetyInnovation #SafeRoads?

We recently asked our LinkedIn community about the feature introduced in the Mercedes-Benz S-Class that allowed keyless entry and start. The answer is KEYLESS GO! KEYLESS GO revolutionised the way we interact with our cars by allowing drivers to unlock and start their vehicles without having to take the key out of their pocket. Over the years, this technology has evolved to include even more advanced features like remote start and integration with digital keys on your smartphone, making your driving experience smoother and more convenient. Stay tuned as we continue to innovate with technologies like #MBUX and smart vehicle systems, shaping the future of driving! #InnovateToInfinity

The gears of change are turning in mechanical engineering, powered by the brilliant minds of women who refuse to be confined by stereotypes. Sudeshna Roy Pratihar, Deputy General Manager – Crash Structures, Sustainability, and Manufacturing Simulations at Mercedes-Benz Research and Development India, embodies a truth often overlooked: success in STEM is born from passion, perseverance, and intellect, not chromosomes. Despite being told that mechanical engineering wasn’t for women, Sudeshna chose to defy the odds. She champions the idea that diversity leads to better solutions and reminds us that it’s not about being a "woman engineer", but simply an engineer – breaking barriers, driving change, and shaping the future. #SheInspires #TogetherForExcellence #LifeAtMBRDI
