During the “Hope and Dignity: How Second Chance Careers Change Lives” panel at SXSW, James Henry, a Deputy Warden at the South Bend Community Reentry Center in Indiana, recounts when he first learned about Purdue Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP)’s Manufacturing Skills for Success (MS4S) program. The training program helps formerly incarcerated individuals learn the technical skills required for modern manufacturing roles. ? After partnering with Purdue MEP and the City of South Bend, the Reentry Center was able to offer the MS4S program and since then have had approximately 200 second-chance citizens graduate with either lean manufacturing or skills for success implementation certificates. ? #MEPNationalNetwork #SecondChance #Workforce

We officially kicked off the Worthington Enterprises Career Accelerator Program! This year, we’re taking it to the next level by partnering with the Manufacturing Extension Partnership and Central Ohio Manufacturing Partnership (COMP) to provide students with hands-on training facilitated by Columbus State Community College to earn their Production Associate Certification. Students from four school districts across Central Ohio have chosen to launch their careers in manufacturing, and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome them to our team! This program isn’t just about learning—it’s about empowering the next generation of skilled manufacturing professionals who will shape the future of our industry.
