关于我们
Mental Health Advocates of WNY (MHAWNY) promotes mental health and wellness and supports individuals and families challenged by mental illness. When you or a family member is struggling with mental illness it can be hard to know where to turn. If you are looking for answers, we can help navigate the mental health care system and offer linkage to treatment and other support services. Since 1962, advocacy is at the core of what we do. Through awareness, education, prevention and early intervention programs, peer support, pro bono civil legal counsel, and other support services, MHAWNY actively promotes mental health and wellness for adults, children and families in homes, schools and workplaces across Western New York. Formerly Mental Health Association of Erie County, MHAWNY changed its name in 2018 to reflect the current programs, mission and geographic areas served by the non-profit agency. Advocacy. Guidance. Education. Answers. We are hear to listen. We are here to help. There is always hope.

This morning, Against the Storm Foundation presented our organization $10,000 to support our BEST program - ultimately impacting the young students of Union East Elementary School in Cheektowaga. BEST is a critical tool in schools across our community, helping young minds to develop healthy social and emotional skills to be successful in school and in life. Immense thanks to the powerful work of Against the Storm, including Tom Lillis, Attorney Joe Nicastro, as well as Daytime Buffalo for having us on to promote this very appreciated donation!

Thank you Erin M. Moss from our Board for sharing the importance and power of Black History Month. Read more. "Growing up my father taught me Black history. He has tons of books about our history. From slavery to Tulsa... I learned at home. In school, at that time, all I had was three pages on the triangle slave trade. My dad taught me that there is so much more when comes to our history. After minoring in African American Studies in college I learned about the African diaspora... poets, writers, artists. Black History is American History. Teach it. Celebrate it. 365." Happy Black History Month! #BlackHistoryMonth
