    Probably more accurate to say, “training alone” won’t help employees keep pace with tech advancements. #AI tech is work integrated and evolving quickly largely due to authentic daily use.   • You know, after rewatching "The Wolf of Wall Street," I couldn't help but draw parallels to our work in Learning and Development (L&D). Remember that scene where Leonardo DiCaprio asks someone to sell him a pen? Well, it got me thinking – every time we create a course, we should imagine our learners asking us to "sell" them on taking it. Sure, we're not salespeople, but as educators, we have a duty to make learning engaging and impactful. It goes beyond understanding our learners' needs, learning objectives and goals, we need to know what makes our learners tick, what will motivate them to take the course and what are the obstacles to taking it. Now, don't get me wrong, we're a dedicated bunch in L&D. We pour our hearts into making courses interactive, relevant, and measurable. We aim to see our learners "get it" and witness the boost in team performance. But here's the kicker – only 39% of learners finish their training, and a mere 20% even start it. With all our effort, time, and good intentions, why the low engagement? Maybe it's time we dust off a few marketing tricks. For example, understanding our audience better, communicating effectively to the variety of stakeholders that play a role in its success, and making sure that its content and appearance are compelling. After all, if we want our learners to buy into our training, we've got to make it as enticing as that pen!
