The Men of George Washington Carver are excited to share some of the amazing opportunities our members have recently participated in. Through their dedication and hard work, they’ve seized chances to grow, sharpen their skills, and make meaningful contributions in their fields. Cristian Simms (K10 - #11), a junior economics major and political science minor from Union, New Jersey, recently had the incredible opportunity to attend the AFS International Youth Conference at the United Nations Headquarters. This prestigious event brought together young leaders and changemakers from over 100 countries to discuss and shape the future. During the conference, Cristian was honored to hear from influential leaders, including Dennis Francis, President of the General Assembly, and Daniel Obst, President of AFS. The highlight of the experience was leading a workshop titled "A Million Conversations: How Can We Build a More Inclusive Healthcare System?" In this workshop, Cristian engaged with passionate scholars from around the globe, all dedicated to transforming healthcare for the better. It was a powerful exchange of ideas and a step toward creating a more inclusive and equitable healthcare system worldwide. (Pictured 1st) Giliad Dawit (K11 - #16), a sophomore computer science major from Washington, D.C., by way of Eritrea, recently participated in Vista's 2023 Global Hackathon. Along with his talented team, Giliad developed a cutting-edge Generative AI-powered solution for cash flow management at BigTime Software. Their hard work and innovation paid off, as they were awarded the prestigious "Best UI/UX" award! Congratulations to Giliad and his team on this incredible accomplishment! (Pictured 2nd) Caleb Robinson (K11 - #22), a sophomore finance major from Atlanta, Georgia, recently attended the prestigious KPMG Rise Leadership Conference. Out of 1,600 applicants, Caleb was selected as one of just 232 participants to experience this incredible opportunity at the KPMG Lakehouse. During the conference, Caleb collaborated with three other participants to develop a pitch identifying a disruptor in a hypothetical client’s industry and emphasized the importance of addressing this challenge. Additionally, he had the privilege of meeting with KPMG partners and associates, gaining valuable insights into the tax, audit, and advisory industries, and exploring potential career paths in these fields. (Pictured 3rd) We are proud of their achievements and look forward to seeing how they continue to make an impact!
