On Wednesday, October 30th, we welcomed the United Way of the Mid-South volunteers and staff for a site visit at the Memphis Child Advocacy Center. This visit allowed United Way to gain insight into our services and see the impact of their support in creating a safe, supportive environment for children. We are truly grateful to United Way of the Mid-South for their continued support in the safety, justice, and healing of victimized children. Monogram Loves Kids Foundation is supporting our therapy program this year and we are so grateful! Our evidence-based therapy helps kids address trauma after sexual abuse or other severe abuse. The Memphis City Council passed a resolution honoring the Memphis CAC on September 24, 2024. Sponsored by Councilwoman Yolanda Cooper-Sutton, the resolution commended the CAC for its unwavering commitment to the safety, healing, and justice of victimized children. The Best Times recently won Best in Show and several more awards in the North American Mature Publishers Association (NAMPA) national competition. They took first place in the “Front Cover, Illustration” category. The winning cover was their February edition using Works of Heart artist Savannah Smith’s “Birds for My Mother”! This morning, we gathered for our annual Honors Day breakfast. Together, we recognized the professionals, community advocates and volunteers who work tirelessly to protect Shelby County’s kids. Our guest speaker, Maribeth Bowman, inspired us with her talk on the power of teamwork and community. Maribeth is program director & forensic interview specialist at Shelby County Children's Advocacy Center in Columbiana, Alabama. The closing musical performance by the Journey Coleman School Chorus helped reinvigorate our resolve. Congratulations and thanks to the 2024 award winners.
