Narla Mohandas, DSc, Distinguished Scientist at New York Blood Center Enterprises (NYBCe), kicked off the 66th American Society of Hematology (ASH) American Society of Hematology Annual Meeting in San Diego, CA. As the 2024 ASH President and head of the Laboratory of Red Cell Physiology at NYBCe, Dr. Narla has made remarkable contributions to the study of red blood cell disorders, including hereditary spherocytosis, sickle cell disease, thalassemias, and malaria. His expertise in erythropoiesis, particularly in myelodysplasia and Diamond-Blackfan anemia, continues to shape the future of hematology research.

"People's lives rely on every single one of us who is part of this. It's what we do." After a devastating car accident, Alicia's life was saved thanks to a team of doctors, a dozen surgeries, and eight units of generously donated blood. Now fully recovered, Alicia, a mother and an account manager at Memorial Blood Centers, is living proof that it's "in our blood" to be lifesavers.
