This holiday season, the team at Members Credit Union's Gastonia branch is doing things a little differently—by giving back to those who need it most. ???? “Instead of exchanging gifts with each other, we’ve each adopted five children through Least of These Carolinas, with a $100 limit per child. It’s a small gesture that has made a huge impact. We couldn’t stop ourselves from smiling while shopping and sorting gifts, it was worth far more than any material present. ?? Two years ago, we began supporting this incredible organization by adopting kids for the holidays. Last year, we got hands-on by volunteering at the foot washing event, where we helped kids pick out new socks and shoes while washing their feet. Chrystal hauled water, Tyra and Cindy helped the kids shop, and Lisa filled book bags with school supplies. We do it all for the kids—and we wouldn’t have it any other way! ?? Least of These Carolinas is always in need of donations and volunteers, with programs that range from holiday events to back-to-school support and even educational programs for both kids and their caregivers. Since 2014, MCU has been recognizing young professionals under age 40. This year, Jessica Smith has been selected to represent Members Credit Union in the CUxEL Protégé competition. She will compete against other Credit Union young professionals in the local competition in Winston-Salem on November 14th for a chance to compete in the NC/SC duel state finals in February. The top three winners at the finals will receive their choice of selected professional development opportunities. Please help us wish Jessica Good Luck in her Protégé journey. This morning, Walkertown Middle School students participated in an educational program provided by Members Credit Union called "A Bite of Reality." This program aims to prepare students for the financial challenges they may face in the future, such as buying a vehicle or a house. Each student is given a new identity, career, credit score, and salary and must make their purchases accordingly.

On February 24, 2024, Members Credit Union sponsored the SURF Board Popsicle 5k event in Mocksville, NC. All proceeds from the Popsicle Run go towards supporting youth-led projects in Davie County. This event is organized under the Davie Community Foundation, the SURF (Students Understanding Real Futures) Board, a youth grant-making organization for high school students in Davie County.
