#BannedBooksWeek reminds us that access to knowledge is power. Book bans attempt to silence the exchange of ideas and limit access to information about our complex, collective history. What are the fears driving these bans? What vibrant knowledge and broader freedoms do we all stand to lose? In 2023, Mellon Foundation President Elizabeth Alexander joined former President of American Library Association and Associate Professor at Queens College Emily Drabinski to discuss the value of reading as a way to engage with ideas that challenge, champion, and contextualize our perceptions.
