Everything worth doing is hard.
But let’s get this straight—
I'm not talking about that hustle-for-the-sake-of-hustle crap that everyone seems to brag about online.
We’ve all seen those "rise and grind" posts, right?
The ones that make it seem like if you're not constantly working, you’re failing.
Nah. That’s not what I mean.
What I’m talking about is choosing your hard.
The truth is, every path you take is going to come with its challenges, so you’d better make sure it’s a path you actually want to take.
I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about why so many people avoid the hard stuff.
And it’s clear to me now: we’ve been conditioned to think that success should be easy.
That it should just fall into place.
But here’s the thing:
Nothing worth doing is easy.
Success doesn’t automatically mean fulfillment.
I spent 25 years climbing the corporate ladder.
I got the titles, the money, and the network.
I was rewarded for all the hard work, but let me tell you—it was the wrong kind of hard. The kind that leaves you drained, unfulfilled, and wishing for more.
I left work every day feeling like I had nothing left to give, but I kept grinding because that’s what everyone around me was doing.
That was the game.
Then I flipped the script.
I chose the hard of building my own business.
And guess what? It’s hard too.
But it’s a different hard.
The kind where every decision is on me. The pressure? It’s there. But so is the excitement. The fulfillment. The feeling that this is mine—every step, every outcome.
So now, the question is: what’s your hard?
If you’re on the ‘normal’ career path and that’s working for you? That’s awesome.
No shame in that game.
But just know—it’s hard. And it’s important to stay aware of how fulfilled you feel as you keep going.
If you’re not feeling fulfilled?
Then it’s time to carve out something for yourself. It’s time to choose the kind of hard that lights you up, that gets you excited to roll out of bed every morning.
The real question is: what’s the hard you’re willing to endure for something that truly fulfills you?
I chose my hard, and I haven’t looked back.
If you’re feeling stuck, are you willing to try something new???Something that has the potential for way more personal fulfillment?
As we close out 2024, think about it. There’s no “right” answer.
But you might just realize that thinking about it changes everything—how you see business, how you see life, and what you’re really going after.
That's all for today.
Happy New Year.
