In the world of business, every entrepreneur aspires to reach the heights achieved by visionaries like Dhirubhai Ambani. I too harboured this lofty ambition, recognising that such a goal would be a long and challenging journey. However, fate had a way of bringing me a step closer to that dream, through an extraordinary opportunity that evoked the same sense of achievement. The story of how we secured our first bulk order for Dhirubhai Ambani International School, comprising 520 t-shirts to be delivered within a mere 4 days, is one that I am excited to share with all our fellow creators. On December 25, 2023, I received a call from Arjun Vaidya, a prominent figure in the Startup Eco-System, particularly renowned for his association with D2C brands. Arjun and I had been in contact for several years, and his genuine promotion of our brand, Melangebox, wherever he went, had been instrumental in our journey. Many people inquired, almost in disbelief, whether Arjun had invested in our firm, to which I could only respond with a heartfelt 'Kaash.' Arjun's endorsement was a testament to his deep appreciation for the quality we offered, and he referred to us as the creators of our brand. Now, let me take you back to the heart of the story. Arjun is an alumnus of Dhirubhai Ambani International School, and they were planning an alumni meeting scheduled for January 5, 2024. The school management wanted to gift t-shirts to their alumni, and I agreed to the order with the assumption that the design, color, quantity, and quality specifications were finalised. We had a tight deadline of just 7 days to manufacture, print, dispatch, and deliver. Subbaraman from Dhirubhai Ambani International School initiated contact with me and raised a unique challenge. They were expecting 500-550 attendees, and there was uncertainty regarding the sizes required. Additionally, they requested samples in 2-3 different qualities featuring their school logo for approval, and the design itself was not yet finalised. Those in the industry understand that the process of sampling can be as time-consuming as producing garments in bulk. It's worth noting that this is precisely the issue we aim to address at Melangebox. I had previously been rejected by top VCs when I shared my vision of building D2C and B2B parallel, emphasising the critical need for timely sampling in corporate, school, and brand orders. I had conveyed this message even to the top management of Fashinza, a company that spent considerable resources attempting to solve this problem and I offered a sound plan to them but big startups specially funded one only listen to another funded startup only. Well, We are making a full-stack B2B product to solve this and hope to make things easier for our creators.
