Thanks Cathy Erway for sharing our story in TASTE about The Next Generation of Frozen Dumplings! https://lnkd.in/eaCuawEB “People will eat anything if you put it in a dumpling,” says Irene Li, founder and co-owner of?Mei Mei Dumplings, a business that began as a food truck in Boston in 2012 and is now an educational dumpling classroom and café, with a retail line of frozen dumplings sold at 30 farmers’ markets and around 100 specialty stores across New England. Mei Mei also partners with Boston public schools to bring its dumplings to lunch programs, serving some 1.25 million dumplings a year. Mei Mei, which means “little sister” in Chinese, is named after Li, because she founded the company with her older siblings; today she co-owns it with partners Annie Campbell and Alyssa Lee."

关于我们
Farm-Focused. Woman-Owned. In 2012, James Beard Award-winning chef Irene Li co-founded Mei Mei with her two older siblings. "Mei Mei” means little sister in Mandarin and our dumplings are an expression of the Li siblings’ favorite childhood food memories as Chinese-American kids growing up in Boston. In 2020, Irene teamed up with Babson MBA graduates, Alyssa Lee and Annie Campbell, to lead the business in its transformation into a Dumpling Factory, Cafe, and Classroom.

We had so much fun making dumplings at Boston Children's Museum!
New on the Blog! ?? While ingredients and shapes may change, one thing cultures around the world have in common is a love of dumplings. In September 2024, Mei Mei Dumplings, a local dumpling business, hosted a Dumpling Folding activity at Boston Children’s Museum, offering Museum visitors the opportunity to learn dumpling folding techniques. Given our all remote team, I'm always a fan of having a remote class as a fun team activity but also getting some learning/experience. Our 2024 Holiday party this year was a dumpling making class hosted by Mei Mei Dumplings out of Boston. ??

We need your help to support the Campaign for the Healthy Incentive Program! As a business that relies on farmers and fights for food security, Mei Mei is part of this fight ????? ? The MA DTA (Department of Transitional Assistance) announced in October 2024 that, as of December 1st, 2024, HIP (Healthy Incentive Program) benefits will be cut from a cap of $80/month, depending on household size, to $20/month for all households. ? ? This is the result of HIP having received only $15 million in the state’s fiscal year 2025 budget, despite estimates that the program needed $25 million to be fully funded for the whole year.? ? The Campaign for HIP Funding is asking the Governor and legislature to dedicate an additional $10 million to HIP (line item 4400-1004) in a future fiscal year 2025 supplemental budget to avoid this programmatic change. Join us to ask our legislators to fully fund this critical piece of our food system. ? ? Thank you to the many farmers markets, community organizations, and governmental offices leading this charge, especially?Massachusetts Food System Collaborative, and The Food Project, whose board?Irene Shiang Li sits on. Please visit https://lnkd.in/ewYzczMB and swipe for more info on HIP and how it works!? ? #foodsecurity?#mafoodsystemscollaborative?#thefoodproject?#healthyincentiveprogram
