Do you know where India's largest diameter pipeline is being laid? It's at the transformative Kalisindh Phase 2 irrigation project in Madhya Pradesh. This colossal pipeline, a marvel of engineering, supports the delivery of life-giving water across vast stretches of land. This 4.6-meter-wide behemoth, stretching over 105 kilometres, is just the beginning. The project's magnitude extends far beyond a single pipeline. It encompasses an intricate network of over 7,000 kilometres of distribution lines, ensuring every corner receives its fair share of water. To facilitate the timely completion of the project, four fabrication yards have been established at the project site for pipe manufacturing. Gravity cannot help carry water to the highlands, but four pump houses will ensure it reaches its destination. These pump houses will lift the water to an astonishing height of approximately 350 meters in four stages. The water source is the backwaters of the Indira Sagar Dam. Furthermore, four substations and a dedicated 100-kilometre transmission line, supported by 300 towers, will provide a reliable energy source to keep these pumps running flawlessly. The impact? This project aims to provide irrigation water to 110,000 hectares of farmland across 270 villages in the Shajapur and Rajgarh districts.
