A leading class action law firm. Advancing justice, achieving results since 2001.

关于我们

Mehri & Skalet, PLLC is a Washington, DC-based complex litigation firm with national reach. Using class action lawsuits we achieve results for our clients while correcting injustices in the workplace and marketplace. Our lawyers have won substantial victories against powerful corporations such as The Coca-Cola Company, Texaco, and Morgan Stanley, making a positive and lasting impact on American society. Proactively seeking solutions, Mehri & Skalet has created special projects addressing major issues in corporate America: the Voices for Corporate Responsibility project is a voice for senior managers exposing corporate fraud; the Women on Wall Street project remedies the pay disparity of women in financial services; and the Madison Avenue Project corrects underrepresentation of minority voices in advertising. Firm founder and partner Cyrus Mehri has also advocated increasing the diversity of the coaching and executive ranks of sports organizations and was a key force behind the adoption of the NFL’s “Rooney Rule.” The New York Times accurately described M&S when they said our “vision for corporate America involves sweeping change, not the piecemeal kind.”

We are proud to announce that our team at Mehri & Skalet, PLLC—alongside the Election Law Clinic at Harvard Law School—has filed an amicus brief on behalf of FEC Commissioner Ellen Weintraub, addressing the Trump administration's attempt to politicize the Federal Election Commission. The brief challenges Executive Order 14215, undermining the FEC's independence and bipartisanship and threatening its ability to administer campaign finance laws fairly. Andie D. and Khalid Mohieldin worked with the clinic and Commissioner Weintraub to file the amicus brief. This brief stands up for the integrity of the FEC and the fundamental principle that election administration should remain impartial and independent.? #FEC #CampaignFinance #AmicusBrief #MehriAndSkalet https://lnkd.in/eJ5xEY38

  • This week, the Pentagon removed webpages honoring trailblazing service members like Jackie Robinson, Colin Powell, the Tuskegee Airmen, and the Navajo Code Talkers, as part of an effort to erase any reference to diversity, equity, and inclusion. These stories are not just “DEI content” — they are American history. Fortunately, public pressure helped restore Jackie Robinson’s page. Yet many others remain deactivated. Our history shapes our future. When Mehri & Skalet, PLLC’s founding partner, Cyrus Mehri, conceived the idea for the Rooney Rule, he was inspired by Clifford Alexander — the first Black Secretary of the Army — who championed equitable hiring practices for military officers, paving the way for transformative leaders like Secretary Colin Powell. We must remain vigilant — because when we erase history, we erase progress. #CivilRights #EquityMatters #JackieRobinson #DEI #MehriSkalet https://lnkd.in/e4fCaSjH

?? UPDATE: On March 1st, a federal judge issued a preliminary injunction preventing President Trump from removing Special Counsel Dellinger, allowing him to remain in his role while the case continues. This decision reinforces critical protections for federal employees and whistleblowers—those who risk their careers to expose fraud, waste, and abuse in government. Last Tuesday, an amicus brief prepared by Mehri & Skalet, PLLC's Michael Lieder was filed with the Supreme Court regarding Special Counsel Dellinger, the head of an independent government watchdog agency. This is the first case before the Supreme Court involving President Trump’s reckless efforts to cut the federal workforce. The Court agreed with Michael’s position, issuing an order allowing the preliminary injunction hearing to proceed today. As we await the lower court’s decision, read more about breaking news from the Merit Systems Protection Board (MSPB), which issued a 45-day stay of the termination of six probationary employees as recommended by Special Counsel Dellinger.: https://lnkd.in/eQ9bJTZ7

Mehri & Skalet, PLLC proudly stands with National Women's Law Center in the fight for student safety and sexual assault survivor protections. We’ve filed a motion to block the Trump administration’s attempt to roll back critical Title IX safeguards and dismiss survivors’ rights. “All students deserve to learn in an environment that is safe and inclusive. The Biden-era Title IX regulations are essential to preserving their rights.” – Ellen E., managing partner at Mehri & Skalet and a former Title IX coordinator at a large public university The court’s decision to strike down these protections, alongside the Trump administration’s return to its harmful 2020 Title IX rule, puts students at risk. We remain committed to ensuring schools are safe and equitable for all. #TitleIX #StudentRights #CampusSafety

BREAKING: We're fighting Trump's dangerous Title IX rule in court. Surprising no one, given that his cabinet is filled with sexual predators (including himself!), the Trump administration has returned to enforcing his dangerous 2020 Title IX rule—after a federal judge in Kentucky struck down stronger protections put in place in 2024. That’s why we’re proud to announce that we filed to join a lawsuit to stop Trump from enforcing his unfair and harmful 2020 rule again, which allows—and in many cases, even requires—schools to further sweep sexual violence against students under the rug. By intervening, we’re seeking to appeal the court’s decision and restore the 2024 Title IX protections against harassment to make ALL students safer. NWLC was founded in the same year that Title IX was put into place, and we’ve been defending Title IX’s legacy ever since. We’re making sure that schools empower survivors to report harassment, support them during investigations, and don’t just dismiss complaints for arbitrary reasons. Learn more about our motion to intervene:

  • At Mehri & Skalet, PLLC, we have long stood for justice, equity, and inclusion in workplaces and communities across the country. That’s why Senator Reverend Raphael Warnock’s recent sermon at the Washington National Cathedral struck such a powerful chord. He asked a simple yet profound question: “If you don’t want diversity, what’s the opposite? If you don’t want inclusion, what do you want the world to look like?” We are proud to continue our fight for civil rights and workplace fairness, standing with those who believe that justice is not optional—it is fundamental. • Mehri & Skalet, PLLC congratulates Arik Armstead on receiving the prestigious Walter Payton Man of the Year Award—a recognition of his unwavering commitment to making a difference on and off the field. Arik's powerful words remind us of the impact we can all have: "We live in a world that constantly tries to divide us… but I believe in humanity. I believe that we are all more alike than we are different, and I believe that all of us have the power to be the change that we want to see in our society. No act is too big, and no act is too small… Let’s define success by a new metric—not by the things that we acquire but by how many people we positively impact.” Let’s celebrate this well-deserved honor and be inspired to uplift those around us. ???? ?#WalterPaytonManOfTheYear #ArikArmstead #BeTheChange https://lnkd.in/eTEhpQ-M

  • For decades, the Rooney Rule has expanded opportunities for diverse leadership in the National Football League (NFL). Yet, as Cyrus Mehri told ESPN before the Super Bowl, a significant barrier remains: the lack of diversity in offensive coaching pipelines. Cyrus highlighted that the preference for offensive coordinators is “akin to the bias that existed for decades” against Black quarterbacks in so-called “thinking” positions. The progress at the quarterback position is undeniable—three of the four conference championship QBs this year were Black, including both Super Bowl starters. However, the NFL is falling short of its commitment to equity and inclusion without a more inclusive approach to offensive coaching opportunities. "Otherwise, the Rooney Rule has been an enormous success," Cyrus emphasized. Still, diversity programs face mounting backlash. At Mehri & Skalet, PLLC, we believe in the power of fair opportunity—in sports, business, and beyond. The Rooney Rule was never about quotas, it’s about ensuring the best talent has an opportunity to compete for leadership roles that have historically excluded top minority candidates. #DiversityInSports #RooneyRule #NFL #Equity #Leadership?

  • ?? Mehri & Skalet Stands with Federal Workers Against Anti-Diversity and Anti-Whistleblower Agendas ?? In the first few weeks of the new Trump Administration, we have seen a disturbing wave of executive actions targeting federal employees — particularly those who worked on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives and those who have exposed government misconduct. These actions are not routine policy shifts — they are part of a larger effort to centralize power, silence opposition, and dismantle legal protections for workers and whistleblowers. ??Targeting DEI Programs & Civil Rights Federal agencies are being directed to purge employees who previously worked on DEI efforts, shut down programs celebrating marginalized communities, and roll back protections for LGBTQ+ workers. ?? Retaliation Against Whistleblowers Career DOJ prosecutors, FBI agents, and other federal employees are facing unlawful termination and harassment for carrying out investigations into Trump's past legal issues and the January 6 attack. These actions likely violate multiple federal laws designed to protect public servants from political retaliation. ?? We Stand Ready to Defend Workers’ Rights Mehri & Skalet has long fought for workers’ rights, systemic equality, and protections for whistleblowers. If you or someone you know is facing unlawful retaliation, we are here to help. #WorkersRights #WhistleblowerProtection #DEI #GovernmentAccountability Read our full blog post: https://lnkd.in/eawdgc3Y
