MeetYourClass was launched 1 year ago ?? What started as a channel to market a caffeinated beverage turned into the leading social network for incoming college students across 160+ campuses. Still, the MeetYourClass team has a much more ambitious vision. Higher education is facing a seismic shift. Graduation rates are declining across the entire space, and universities that aren't adapting to the evolving needs of their students are suffering continuous financial losses. Although many factors are at play (high tuition costs, CTE programs, etc.), we believe the most actionable way for administrators to maintain enrollment is to foster stronger communities on campus. To achieve this in an authentic, Gen-Z-friendly way, it is paramount that universities engage students on the digital platforms they already use on a day-to-day basis. Students start forming online communities, building their friend groups, and establishing foundational views on their colleges from the moment of acceptance, and few universities are capitalizing on this 2-9 month lag before students move in. As the go-to solution for students to find roommates and friends before stepping foot on campus, MeetYourClass is uniquely positioned to bridge this misalignment. What We Accomplished This Past Year: ? Our team grew from four to nine individuals, ranging from pro community builders to savvy software developers and visionary UI/UX designers (Vaishnavi Anand, Yu-Chien Sun, Camryn Simpson, Mateo Vrooman, Dhruv Tiwari); ? 189,000+ accounts creations from the Class of 2027 on our platform; ? Secured VC backing from Techstars Powered by J.P. Morgan; ? Confirmed two university pilot programs with student bodies ranging from 1,600-10,000 undergrads; ? Announced a $5,000 scholarship fund. Our Goals for the Next Year: ? Work with our pilot partners to improve yield, melt, and retention rates by creating tools they can use to better understand the wants and needs of their study body; ? Expand our presence to 500 colleges across each state with ambassadors at each university; ? Release a comprehensive higher education report based on feedback from nearly 10,000 students; ? Transition from solely Instagram to a broader Social Media Ecosystem, including platforms like Facebook, TikTok, and potential additions like GroupMe, Discord, Snapchat, YouTube, Spotify, and more; ? Reinvent our platform into a central hub, pulling content from all popular social media channels used by Gen Z and fostering genuine interactions, inspired by the decentralized philosophy of the Fediverse. As we reflect on our journey, we could not be more excited for the road ahead – big things are coming! Thank you to everyone who has supported our vision :)

Today marks one year since I started my journey with MeetYourClass and left a corporate role for a higher ed startup. (risky right?) But looking back, I wouldn’t change a thing. Here's what I've learned along the way: 1. Building something with impact feels incredible: Watching how our work helps students and institutions connect and navigate higher ed has given me so much purpose. 2. Comfort zones? Overrated: Pushing myself out of mine has led to the most rewarding challenges and every one has led to growth and learning. 3. People matter: I’ve met some incredible humans this year, and they’ve made every tough day easier (and every win 10x better). ?? 4. I’m exactly where I need to be: Turns out, leaving my comfort zone was the best decision I could have made. Had an amazing 2 days at Inside Higher Ed/Times Higher Education #HashtagHigherEd Conference (had to finish with a selfie) ?? Met so many incredible people doing amazing things in higher ed space. Big takeaway: it’s all about community, listening and collaboration (cause the enrollment funnel is messy to say the least). Already excited to keep these convos going and see where we can all take this next. ?? #highered #community
