They’ve worked on meaningful goals like learning Spanish, exploring musical instruments, and staying active by visiting YMCAs across Minnesota. Their shared activities bring joy and purpose to Andrew’s daily life. With patience and creativity, his Supportive Roommate has helped Andrew improve his communication skills and turn household chores into fun, friendly competitions. Their bond extends to the kitchen, where cooking Mexican and Jamaican dishes fosters laughter and connection, strengthening their friendship. Through empathy and innovation, Andrew’s roommate has become more than a caregiver—a friend who helps him thrive.

Exciting updates from the Rumi team! We have been working diligently at Rumi to enhance our services and strengthen our Rumi community. At the same time, we are rebuilding our management structure to create a strong foundation for improved operational efficiency and Rumi support. We are also refining our service offerings by updating outcomes to include alternative options for contractors, ensuring flexibility and alignment with individual needs. Our support plans are being transitioned to Dungarvin’s format, bringing consistency and clarity to personalized care. Alongside these efforts, we are updating our person-centered strategies to better cater to the unique preferences and goals of each individual. At the heart of our work is a commitment to building strong relationships with our Rumi’s and their supportive roommates. By nurturing these connections, we continue to foster trust and community, staying true to our mission of respecting and responding to the choices of people in need of supports.
