This week, Meet Minneapolis kicked off its annual effort to collect brand new, warm winter clothes for Hennepin Healthcare. Donated items will assist Hennepin Healthcare in its mission to discharge patients with dignity. As proud ambassadors of our tourism and hospitality industry, our goal is to rally partner businesses and our community to help address this need. We make it easy! For your convenience, donate via this Target Wish List (https://bit.ly/4elv3zC) or this Amazon Wish List (https://lnkd.in/gbiH3dXS). Your wish list purchase will ship directly to Meet Minneapolis. If you are local, you can also purchase new warm winter clothes and drop items off at our Meet Minneapolis office. Please Note: Hennepin Healthcare can only accept *new* clothing, and our new warm winter clothing drive runs through Jan. 6, 2025. Thank you for helping us to help those in need! #Minneapolis #GiveBack #ClothingDrive #Community

"The 'Land of 10,000 Lakes' truly is the land of 10,000 performances..." In fact, Minnesota is the No. 1-ranked state in public arts spending, and leading the way is the Minneapolis region. (https://bit.ly/4frnSXP) As Vanity Fair notes: We are "home to one of the most vibrant arts and entertainment communities in America..." From must-see, world-class theaters to Grammy-winning orchestras. From live music venues ranging from stadiums and arenas to landmark icons (First Avenue) and intimate stages. And then there's our unexpected depth of Minneapolis museums (https://bit.ly/4fCfMeU). Minneapolis boasts 55 area museums with collections spanning thousands of years of history, art, culture and performance art. In Minneapolis, there is art around nearly every corner. Whether traveling for a conference or a quick little getaway, come see and experience it for yourself. #Minneapolis #travel #art #artsandculture #theaters #livemusic

"We're witnessing a Native awakening on a?national scale ... Amid this, Minneapolis has emerged as an epicentre for Indigenous creativity, from art to food to music and more." https://bit.ly/48bNV2h Our thanks to the BBC for sharing an in-depth look at Minneapolis from its Dakota history to the American Indian Movement (AIM) to our growing and thriving Indigenous community. Journalist Alicia Erickson talked with Shelley Buck (Pte Wicota), Bdewakantunwan Dakota and president of?Owámniyomni Okhódayapi and Kate Nelson, a local writer of Tlingit origin (and whose quote from above is included in the story). The story also includes: --Native American Community Development Institute (NACDI) --All My Relations (art gallery) --Birchbark Books --Owamni by the Sioux Chef --The North American Traditional Indigenous --Food Systems (NāTIFS) --Owámniyomni Okhódayapi --Minnesota Humanities Center Read more here: https://bit.ly/48bNV2h #Minneapolis #NativeLand #Indigenous #AmericanIndian #NativeAmerican #travel

The headline says it all: "Minneapolis hotel rebound is one of the best in the nation."?https://bit.ly/3BGRgu6 "By the numbers: Only [two other cities in the U.S.] had better year-over-year gain in revenue per available room (RevPAR) in both July and August, according to CoStar. Downtown Minneapolis hotels saw RevPAR jump nearly 22% in those two months. The $131 million they collected this summer is 8% more than the summer of 2019, according to Meet Minneapolis." Our perspective: The work of Meet Minneapolis and our many partner organizations to bring meetings, conventions, sporting events, concerts, theater productions, and more to our city means even additional jobs for local workers and more incremental tax revenue for the city which helps all residents.
