It has been such a busy two days at Transform, meeting new people and reconnecting with old friends ? Yesterday, our CEO Adria Ferrier sat down with the HR Morning Show crew to introduce Elayne and steal the spotlight for a few minutes to discuss why financial and estate planning support should be part of every employee benefits package. Adria dropped some fun facts... like fax machines still being used to settle estates (!) and GenZ (yes, GenZ!) are surging in having wills created. ? Give it a watch through Purple Acorn!? More to come today - stay tuned ??

Back to where it all began - Transform ???? As we head back to Vegas, I can’t help but reflect on how far Elayne has come in just one year. It all started at Transform 2024, where I showed up with a handful of flyers and a set of Figma screens. Let’s be real- Elayne wasn’t a product yet. It was just an idea and a deep belief that there had to be a better way to help families navigate the practical chaos of loss. What a difference a year makes! Since then, we’ve: ? Gone through Y Combinator and PeopleTech Partners ? Built a fully functioning product with a novel user experience ? Closed our seed round with incredible investors (more to come!) ? Opened an office in NYC ? Grown the team - Jake Grafenstein, Irina Vishnevskaya, Matthew Nunemacher (and are actively hiring!) Our mission remains the same: to be the digital quarterback for the practical side of loss. But now we’re thinking bigger. Elayne is becoming the AI-copilot for all things estate and finance related - before and after loss. Because life changes, and your estate plan should evolve with it. We’ve been heads down building for the past couple months but we’re excited to be back at Transform, to reconnect (come visit us at Kiosk #13!) and see where the next year takes us! #transform2025

We are so thrilled for you to be joining our growing team Irina Vishnevskaya!
Recently, I started my new role as Head of Growth and Strategy at Elayne ?? This one is deeply personal (but isn’t everything in life??) I lost my Dad to brain cancer 12ish years ago now. I learned a lot about life in the process of experiencing a parent die. Big on that list is how difficult dying is for the surviving family members. And I’m not just talking about the grief and that terrible feeling in your chest. I’m also talking about the logistics. Bank accounts, the house that needs to be sold. The random logins to accounts. Filing taxes for a dead person. It’s a lot. All at a time when your brain is in a fog and you have a demanding job/family/you name it. Once you go through it, you realize you never want anyone you love to go through that again. Ensuring we don't die is outside of the reach of tech (for now, lol), but making your legacy be one that's simple on the people who deal with it after you're gone is certainly fixable. And that's what I love most about what we're doing at Elayne - we’re focusing not just on what happens after a death, we’re making it possible to take control in the living times as well, with a comprehensive legacy and estate planning as well. No one has to die to use Elayne - in fact, it's even more magical using it well before loss. Because in addition to being the daughter of the most amazing Dad ever, I’m also a parent to two wild, curious and all around incredible little boys. And though I’m healthy and young-ish (I think), I want to have my ducks in a row for myself and for them. It's an incredibly empowering feeling, and I'm frankly obsessed with making it a reality for more people. The Elayne team is small but super mighty, YC-minted and VC-backed, and in my first few weeks here it has been a true pleasure working alongside Adria Ferrier, Jake Grafenstein and Matthew Nunemacher. I hate saying lfg, but that feels like the appropriate way to wrap this personal share — just know that I do it without an ounce of bro-y-ness ???

Super proud of the work the team has put in since starting YC!! The company has grown so much and we are more prepared than ever to help the millions of Americans who suffer a loss every year.
Elayne (YC S24) is an employee benefit that automates estate planning and settlements after a family member’s death. Imagine losing a family member. You're grieving, and overwhelmed by tasks like funeral planning, managing bills, insurance, probate, and closing accounts—all while trying to process your emotions and return to work. The last thing you need is 400 hours of estate settlement tasks looming over you for the next 16-20 months, making it challenging to perform at work and nearly impossible to take care of your mental health. Elayne solves this problem for both you and your employer. Over 75% of today’s workforce will need to plan for or manage a family member’s death in the next decade. This administrative burden causes a $100 billion annual drag on US companies due to lost productivity, absenteeism, and attrition. Elayne's AI guides employees through preparing their family’s estate and helps them settle affairs after a loved one's death. Congrats on the launch, Adria Ferrier and Jake Grafenstein! ?? https://lnkd.in/g7r7jS4T

?? Today is National Grief Awareness Day ?? Grief is a universal experience, yet it is so deeply personal. On this day, we come together to acknowledge the pain, the memories, and the journey that accompanies loss. Whether you're grieving the loss of a loved one, a relationship, a job, or a life you once knew, your feelings are valid, and your healing is important. Grief doesn't have a timeline, and it's okay to take the time you need to process, reflect, and heal. As leaders and colleagues, it's essential that we create a supportive environment for those who are grieving. Here are a few ways to help: 1?? Listen without judgment: Sometimes, the best thing you can do is simply be there and listen. Offer a safe space for your coworker or direct report to express their feelings. 2?? Acknowledge their grief: Don’t shy away from talking about the loss. A simple, “I’m here if you need anything,” can mean a lot. 3?? Be flexible: Grief can affect focus and productivity. Show understanding by being flexible with deadlines and offering support in their workload. 4?? Respect privacy: Not everyone will want to talk about their grief openly. Be respectful of their boundaries and offer support in a way that feels comfortable for them. 5?? Check in regularly: Grief doesn’t end after a few days or weeks. Continue to check in on your colleague over time to see how they’re doing. Let’s use today as a reminder to create spaces where it’s okay to not be okay, both in our personal lives and in the workplace. It's in these moments of connection and understanding that we find strength and healing. ?? Share your thoughts or experiences in the comments, and let’s continue this important conversation. #NationalGriefAwarenessDay #GriefSupport #MentalHealthMatters #YouAreNotAlone #Leadership
