Edit @ 5pm ET: new Canada tariffs (like Mexico) now on hold for 30 days! ?? Federal Register is updated for the new China and Canada tariffs, and they go into effect tonight at midnight. Severe impacts for brands and manufacturers: 1. Parcels from China and Canada are now dutiable and require formal customs entries. Section 321 de minimus exclusion for parcels is explicitly removed for these countries of origin. 2. Goods entering a Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) from China and Mexico must be Privileged Foreign Status, meaning products will be taxed according to their value and classification at time of entry into the US from the FTZ. This removes the ability of manufacturers to pay duties on the lower value of inputs with China or Mexico country of origin. 3. No drawback is allowed on duties subject to these orders.
