The mEducation Alliance Symposium is always one of my favorite events of this year, but it was even better to be joined by my Digital Promise colleagues, Karissa Bowen, M.Ed. and Shayla Cornick, this time around. We had an engaging three days of discussion about how to ensure equitable access to high-quality STEM learning for all students everywhere, particularly those furthest from opportunity.

Still feeling so inspired by the mEducation Alliance conference on accessible STEM Education this week in DC. So many amazing projects underway by so many wonderful companies reaching children all over the world. This global audience was incredible! I was excited to present Smart Girls HQ’s Ingenia game modules and some ideas for how we can adapt them for low resource environments. I was even more excited to win the audience vote for the learning application most likely to get adopted! Can’t wait to bring our work outside of North America, especially to Africa, where I got my start many years ago. Thank you to Institute of Education Sciences and Ed Metz for the invitation.

It was incredible to share the stage with these dynamos at the mEducation Alliance Symposium in Arlington, VA! Our session focused on N50 Project’s mission to bring partners with varying expertise together to enable 3 billion unconnected people to participate in the digital world. I was happy to discuss what EdTech access has meant to the refugees and out-of-school youth we work with and how we’re delivering Learning Upgrade in crisis environments. I want to thank the Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter School for Peace and Conflict Resolution at George Mason University for inviting me to deliver remarks today at the 14th Annual mEducation Alliance Sympossium on the U.S. State Department's use of conflict data analytics and emerging technologies. I also want to applaud Megan Jeans for doing an excellent job in moderating the panel and asking relevant data-related policy questions.

The mEducation Alliance brought together an amazing group to share innovative approaches to improve refugee education globally: Rumbidzai Ayesha Gwete and Alexis Lefranc from UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, Mílada Tonarelli Gon?alves from ProFuturo Education, Nadia Asmal from Imagine Worldwide, Marcel Cirhuza from Fountain Of Hope Africa, Ruth Njiri from COHERE, Manahil Kununa from Solidarity Initiative for Refugees (SIR), Vinod Lobo from Learning Upgrade, and moderator Rebekah Schulz from USAID. Thanks to student fellow Ayman Habib for her excellent technical help. Manahil joined us live from Kakuma Refugee Camp in Kenya, where her refugee led organization Solidarity Initiative for Refugees (SIR) deployed the Learning Upgrade program for staff and vocational training.

Day 2 at mEducation Alliance symposium in Washington DC was an invaluable opportunity to reconnect with our partners from the Sesame Workshop. During the event, the team highlighted crucial insights into the significance of using media to reach and support children affected by conflicts and crises a case study from Kenya, Bangladesh, and Colombia, demonstrating effective strategies and opportunities.
