This week’s #FailureFriday is for anyone who has ever struggled with fertility. You are not alone. And no, you are not a failure. Although in my case, I did fail for many years to process how I was actually feeling. Case in point, me the night of the photo pictured here. This was me in 2012 at a fancy fundraiser I helped throw for President Obama. In the photo, I’m introducing the star of the night, President Obama. It should have been a huge moment for me. But 3 days prior, I had my first miscarriage. I hadn’t even gotten the D&C procedure yet when I got up on stage. No one in the room knew what had happened. I held it all inside. My body persevered through the pain and the loss of my miscarriage. I couldn’t feel the magnitude of what that moment meant for my career or what losing the pregnancy meant for me personally. I closed myself off from both. Like so many women I knew, I always felt I had to be perfect. I had to keep moving. I had to be strong. So that’s exactly what I was doing in this moment: swallowing my grief and powering through the pain. Recently, I had the opportunity to share my fertility story on the Meditative Story podcast and how I learned to stop trying to just push through life’s unexpected changes and allow myself the time and space to properly feel them. The episode is out this week, and you can listen to it here or by searching Meditative Story on your favorite podcast platform: https://lnkd.in/etx-TiKT

So excited that my Meditative Story is out today! In this week’s episode, I share a very personal story of mine: my journey with fertility. I have always prided myself on being in control. I’ve always been the one to say “I got this.” But after years of struggling to achieve one of my lifelong goals — being a mom — the weight of powering through the pain was too much. In this week’s episode, I share how I learned that instead of just pushing through life’s unexpected changes, I needed to allow myself the time and space to properly feel them. You can listen to my episode by searching for Meditative Story wherever you get your podcasts. https://lnkd.in/etx-TiKT . . . #Fertility #MeditativeStory #Podcast #FertilityJourney
