A groundbreaking cancer vaccine is in the midst of clinical trials at the Penn Medicine Basser Center for BRCA. The shot would benefit those carrying cancer-causing BRCA gene mutations by recognizing the earliest signs of disease and stopping cancer before it develops. "If there's a word beyond 'breakthrough', that's what [this] would be," says Robert Vonderheide, MD, DPhil, director of Penn's Abramson Cancer Center. Principal investigator and executive director of the Basser Center, Susan Domchek, MD, spoke with The Philadelphia Inquirer about how exactly the vaccine works and the lifesaving impact it would have on families with a history of genetic cancers. https://spr.ly/6047V6byR
关于我们
We are a grassroots network of Hispanic healthcare workers and volunteers, who rallied together amidst the COVID crisis, delivering crucial testing and vaccination resources to the most marginalized Hispanic communities in Greater Philadelphia. Our first major initiative, Unidos Contra COVID, emerged as the region's largest grassroots Hispanic COVID outreach effort, setting the standard for effective health outreach in historically underserved areas. Today, our organization's commitment persists in addressing healthcare disparities within Hispanic communities. Through strategic community outreach initiatives forged by our partnerships, we aim to provide support, empowerment, and advocacy for equitable healthcare access. International medical graduates stand as pillars within our organization, contributing significantly to our mission of ensuring healthcare equity among these communities.
