Medical Physics Services (“MPS?”) provides radiation therapy physics consulting services throughout the United States and throughout Europe by MPSi Medical Physics Services International Ltd ("MPSi”). MPS and MPSi are proud of its history of service and innovation as a Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB). Since 2004, we have led the radiation oncology community in providing comprehensive commissioning support and in assisting clients with implementing cutting-edge technologies. Our group is full-time dedicated to the commissioning and implementation support of new radiation oncology equipment and new treatment procedures. The commissioning process for radiation therapy equipment is the most important aspect of bringing a radiation oncology facility online.     I just had the wonderful opportunity to commission the second Edge linear accelerator at the Radiotherapy Service Department of Champalimaud Foundation in Lisbon, Portugal.?It was a busy but productive week as we worked closely with the physics team to ensure their readiness for the go-live date, which was set for just a week after the installation was accepted. Our collaboration with their radiation therapy team has been long-standing; in 2014, we helped commission their first Edge linear accelerator, one of the first to be used globally in a clinical setting (https://lnkd.in/eTAvaHQT). ?We also supported their TrueBeam and HyperArc commissioning projects. ?This lasting partnership has not only enhanced our professional ties but has also blossomed into personal friendships.?Special thanks to Prof. Dr. Carlo Greco, Sandra Vieira, and Dalila Mateus for choosing to work with MPSi once again … and for the incredible views and sunsets just outside their clinic (sunny and warm in December!). ?     It’s a week to be thankful, and besides time off with loved ones and an opportunity to watch too much football, the team at TrueNorth has something else to be thankful for this year. As of early November, TrueNorth has a new partner in the world of independent medical physics companies. While we’ve worked together in the past (including two joint commissionings earlier this year with its founder Gloria Beyer), we are now officially BFFs with Medical Physics Services LLC – MPS. Having touted our bona fides just last week, this is more evidence that TrueNorth is a company that values collaboration over competition. Just like mashed potatoes pair perfectly with gravy, MPS’ 20 years of commissioning experience in Europe and the United States, and their expertise in areas like small field commissioning, will pair perfectly with TrueNorth Medical Physics’ own talents, vision and plucky can-do attitude. We are working together to chart a better path forward in the world of medical physics – as only two independent and forward-thinking companies can. Thank you to Gloria and the whole MPS team. We’re thankful for you and all the adventures we’ll have going forward. Happy Thanksgiving.

    Today’s post is the story of two FIRSTS and a (no less important) SECOND. And this time we remembered to take photos. (Sorry to everyone hoping for more nightmarish AI representations of what we do.) At a recent commissioning for Atrium Health in Charlotte, we celebrated TrueNorth Medical Physics FIRST-ever joint commissioning. Joining forces with Gloria Beyer and Medical Physics Services LLC made the commissioning go smoothly. Thank you, Gloria. Another big first happened because of TrueNorth’s commitment to helping train the next generation of medical physicists. Ashkan Shafiee, a resident from Wake Forest, worked his FIRST-ever commissioning. Thanks for all of your help! We hope we can work with you again in the future. ? Finally, we celebrated our SECOND commissioning at the Atrium Levine Cancer Institute. We enjoyed being back, and really appreciated the help of Hongjun Zhang who was there to assist and doublecheck our work. We appreciate you, Hongjun. Bonus shoutout to Levine’s Assistant Vice President – Medical Physics Carnell Jermaine Hampton, PhD. FAAPM, who stopped by to make sure we felt welcome. You have a wonderful facility.   • When we commission?a new linac, we view it not as a standalone project but as the start of a long-term partnership. MPS is there not just for your needs today, but for your needs tomorrow as well. These aren't just words to us. In 2008, we worked with Stephen Terry to commission their SRS program.?These past few years we have worked with Stephen at Centra in Lynchburg and we recently commissioning their third TrueBeam.?Thank you, Stephen, for the long-term trust of over sixteen years that you have shown in MPS.?And thank you Centra for the opportunity to help your clinic with all your new TrueBeams.?We look forward to many more projects together! #medicalphysics #radonc #radiotherapy

  • If you have to work on the weekend, you might as well do it with people you?like! It was a busy weekend for MPS working together with TrueNorth at Central Florida Cancer Institute. Gloria Beyer and Robert Staton performed the Annual QA at one of their linear accelerators in Davenport. It was a good opportunity for Matt Frain, a Ph.D. student from the UF Medical Physics program, to join the team to get hands-on experience in the implementation of MPPG8b QA procedures. With?Robert and Gloria both being UF Alumni, it was an all-Gator?team! We look forward to continuing to work together with the CFCI team and physicist Jie Yang to assist with their QA and medical physics support needs. #medicalphysics #radonc #radiotherapy
