8 Days to Giving Tuesday: From Rescue to Service Dog Meet Snow, a shepherd mix we rescued from Indianapolis Animal Care Services after she was found roaming the streets. Snow’s journey represents what Giving Tuesday is all about—offering second chances to dogs and people alike. Our trainers carefully select dogs like Snow, looking for qualities like sociability, adaptability, and a love for learning. But it’s no easy path—only 1 in 4 dogs we select will make it through the intense 6–8 month training process to become a life-changing service dog. Those who don’t meet the criteria? They still get a happy ending, placed in loving homes where they can thrive. From comprehensive health checks to mastering over 30 behaviors, these incredible dogs are transformed into heroes for people in need. Snow – Affectionate 1.5-year-old Great Pyrenees with a beautiful white coat. She loves dogs, cats, and kids and will make a fantastic family pet! Poppy – Energetic 1-year-old German Shepherd mix who’s perfect for active families! Poppy loves to play with dog friends and would enjoy a kitty-free home. Clifford – Our longest resident! Clifford is a 4-year-old mixed breed who loves toys and snuggling. He’s looking for a home where he can be the only pet and soak up all the love. We stay connected, offering weekly check-ins after clients return home, followed by monthly updates throughout the first year. Even after that, we continue with annual follow-ups to ensure our dogs are thriving in their roles. If challenges arise, we offer support through phone consultations, extra training, or even bringing the dog back for a refresher course. And the best part? All of this ongoing support is included in the initial fee—no extra cost to the client! Your donations make this possible.
