ICYMI - In the spirit of #DigitalHealthWeek, we joined our partners in Kenya for a hackathon focused on enhancing the country’s electronic Community Health Information System. During the 5-day event, representatives from Medic, Ministry of Health, Kenya, Living Goods, Lwala Community Alliance, CHISU, and HealthIT participants came together to work on dashboards, resolve integration issues, and improve data visualization through the Community Health Toolkit. It’s exactly this kind of collaboration and innovation that leads to impactful digital health solutions - and supports better health outcomes and access for everyone! Quality healthcare is a fundamental right for every child. The dedication of community health workers (CHWs) and innovative digital tools like CHT apps are expanding access to this right for children in communities around the world. From routine assessments to vaccination programs to malnutrition prevention and treatment, CHWs help children stay healthy and get the care they need—often from before they’re even born. Read Hawa’s story and learn how, as a CHW in Mali, she is using CHT technology to keep children healthy in her community. https://bit.ly/3B4arxS #WorldChildrensDay #ChildrensRights #CHT

Research shows that digitally-supported community health workers (CHWs) accelerate healthcare delivery. However, confidence in the quality of data they collect doesn’t always advance at the same rate, and solutions are needed to build that trust. Enter the Data Observation Toolkit (DOT), co-developed in 2022 with DataKind and partners. It’s an open-source, community-informed toolkit capable of automated monitoring and detection of inconsistent or problematic data, integrated into the Community Health Toolkit (CHT). We’re proud to announce that the DOT is featured in Georgetown University’s Beeck Center for Social Impact + Innovation’s "50 Selected Digital Public Goods (DPGs) in Government Use" and was presented at the OpenForum Academy Symposium, hosted by the Digital Data Design (D^3) Institute at Harvard and located at Harvard Business School. Harnessing the power of real-time, reliable data can shape the delivery of impactful and better-informed digital services. Globally, the prevalence of diabetes has surged from 151 million people in 2000 to 463 million in 2019. This rapid rise highlights the growing challenge diabetes poses to global health and the urgent need for effective prevention and management strategies. 79% of individuals with diabetes live in low- and middle-income countries, where access to healthcare resources and treatment options can be limited. But community health workers, when supported with digital solutions like the Community Health Toolkit, can play a critical role in addressing chronic diseases like diabetes—through education and awareness, screening and early detection, and care. #WorldDiabetesDay #DiabetesDay
