Thank you to the many staff who are helping our residents near Mountain Island Lake recover from Hurricane Helene. The coordinated response led by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Emergency Management includes: - 200 building inspections by Storm Water Services staff. - More than 100 tons of tree debris collected by Solid Waste, Storm Water and Park & Recreation. - Code Enforcement estimates 84 properties were impacted. They're working with those homeowners on permitting. - Geospatial Information Services provided maps and damage reports that guided staff and helped with requesting federal disaster assistance. Twenty-eight Information Technology Services staff volunteered to help unload, sort and inventory over-the-counter medicines and other products for NC MedAssist for two days! The organization offers free or low-cost prescription medications and everyday over-the-counter products free of charge to those in need in North Carolina. 4.
