A young parent from our Journey Program, Cameron, shared his family's story with the 200 attendees at the United Way Kennebec Valley's annual celebration last week. Despite working hard at a job that pays well, Cam and his family are a part of the 41% of Maine families that struggle to make ends meet. UWKV supports Kennebec Valley nonprofits like Maine Children's Home that provide support and resources to people like Cam and his family. It's truly heartwarming to witness the lasting impact of our mission across multiple generations. Recently, we had the privilege of visiting with a family with a deeply special connection to our work. Their story reminded us of just how far-reaching our mission to build and strengthen families can be. Though we haven't been an orphanage for many decades, the ripples of love, care, and hope that began here continue to shape lives. In the instance of this family, we're still seeing the profound effects of our work with families whose grandparents were adopted or fostered through Maine Children's Home more than 75 years ago.
