Business Software UX & NPS Benchmarks (2025) From January through February of 2025, we used MUiQ to collect data from 980 participants to learn about their attitudes toward the functionality and usability of 23 common business-related software products. We selected the 23 products to represent various business functions, focusing on those that have a large user base and appear in our historical data sets. Where possible, we tried to collect at least two products with similar functions. Several products have strong consumer usage as well (e.g., Zoom and ZipRecruiter). While the list is far from exhaustive, it provides a reasonable picture of the B2B software experience. #ux #uxr #userexperience #usertesting #benchmark #uxresearch #userresearch

If an average score on a seven-point rating scale is 5.2, is that good? How can you know, and how might you transform it to a number that’s easier for nontechnical people to understand? In this article, we dive into the differences between absolute percentages, percentiles, and rating scale transformations to 100-point scales. #ux #uxresearch #userexperience #uxr #usertesting #userresearch

Upcoming Webinar: 20 Years of MeasuringU: Reflecting and affecting UX research for two decades at MeasuringU Who cares about what happened 10, 15 or 20 years ago? While technology changes fast some of the most important questions in UX research are more enduring. Preparing for the future means understanding the past. In this webinar Jeff Sauro and James R. Lewis reflect on key moments and topics that shaped the industry and how MeasuringU came to play a major role in the transformation of UX measurement. In particular we’ll cover timeless topics including Metrics, Methods and Tools, focusing on: - How do you measure UX? How has that evolved? - How have UX methods changed? - What sample size do you need? Why is this still a controversy after over 20 years!? - How should you analyze data? What role will AI play? - How bad is the current UX job market compared to the cycles seen in the last 20 years? Join Jeff and Jim as they provide their perspective on the evolution of UX research measurement and methods since the genesis of MeasuringU. #ux #userexperience #uxresearch #usertesting #uxr #userresearch

What standardized questionnaires are there for the assessment of the UX of mobile apps, and how are they the same or different? There are practical issues with the current multifactor questionnaires that were developed for the assessment of the UX of mobile apps. The SUPR-Qm is a quick measure of overall mobile app UX, but it could be even more efficient. #ux #usertesting #userexperience #uxreserach #uxr #userresearch

Analysis of the UX job market using historical data from the UXPA salary survey from 2009 to 2024 revealed significant UX job contraction (35% of respondents in 2024?reporting lost staff) but of those in a position to hire, most (70%) plan to hire at least one UX position in 2025 with 20% planning three or more. While the net jobs added and net business outcome metrics are at the lowest point since 2009, the data suggests the worst might be over. It’s hard to know what exactly will happen in tech but if history is a guide, the subsequent two-year period after the nadir of 2009 had net jobs and business prospects at their highest. Here’s hoping for a good New Year in 2025! #ux #userexperience #usertesting #uxr #uxresearch #userresearch

How do we know how usable and useful a product is? To understand the current consumer software landscape, in January 2025, we conducted a large-scale retrospective benchmark with 1,896 U.S. respondents on 40 popular consumer software products, which included a mix of popular productivity, storage, security, music streaming, language learning, and generative AI software. Participants were asked to reflect on their most recent experiences with the software and answer several items, including the?System Usability Scale?(SUS), the?UX-Lite?, the standard likelihood-to-recommend (LTR) question used to compute the?Net Promoter Score?(NPS), and the?Technical Activities Checklist?(TAC-10?). #ux #userexperience #usertesting #uxr #uxresearch

A cluttered website makes it hard to find information. Clutter gets in the way of completing tasks. At least that’s what we think about clutter. But is there quantifiable evidence that a cluttered design degrades a website’s user experience? To answer that question, you need a valid measure of the website user experience and a valid measure of clutter. Fortunately, we have both. This figure shows a structural equation model based on the SUPR-Q measurement framework with the addition of constructs from the new Perceived Website Clutter Questionnaire. The model shows how the clutter questionnaire’s Content Clutter and Design Clutter factors drive Overall Clutter, which, in turn, drives the SUPR-Q attitudinal factors of Appearance and Usability. The SUPR-Q Trust, Appearance, and Usability factors (attitudinal) directly affect the SUPR-Q Loyalty (behavioral intention) factor and influence Loyalty through their effect on Brand Attitude, ultimately accounting for 62% of the variation in Loyalty ratings. #ux #userexperience #usertesting #uxresearch #uxr #userresearch

The need to?over-recruit?participant sessions is a fact of life for UX researchers. What’s a good?over-recruitment?rate to use to address this need? Our analysis indicated that planning for about 20%?over-recruitment?of moderated sessions provides a good balance between under- and?over-recruitment?as long as you have procedures in place to minimize unusable sessions. And don’t forget the important role of high-quality operations teams and procedures when planning your moderated studies! #ux #usertesting #userexperience #uxresearch #uxr #userresearch

To understand how well the UX-Lite could predict future behavior, we reached out to the respondents from an earlier study to see who was interested in participating in a follow-up study, ultimately analyzing 321 responses. Using structural equation modeling, we found the UX-Lite was predictive of future usage at 90 days through the effect of perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness on ratings of overall experience and intention to use. This research supports UX practitioners by (1) demonstrating the importance of work that improves perceptions of product ease and usefulness and (2) demonstrating that UX researchers and practitioners can use the two-item UX-Lite in their work to effectively and efficiently measure perceived ease and usefulness. #ux #uxresearch #usertesting #userresearch #uxr #userexperience
