The People and Planet First showcase last week was fantastic, highlighting some of the businesses that make Portland great and generating new ideas and excitement around shifting our economic system to one that serves all forms of life - ecosystems and humans. The pilot program facilitated by The Impact Collective PDX over the last year has started to shift actual purchasing dollars to People and Planet First verified organizations. The more we purchase from local, sustainable businesses, the more we keep money circulating in our own neighborhoods where it can do good. And as always, nice to hang with friends, Funnelbox Video & Animation, Kate Dixon, The Impact Collective PDX, Mighty Epiphyte | Impacts Coach | B CorpGuide & Benefit Reporting at Place to B

We are excited to celebrate a certification that gets to the very heart of business design for social impact - People and Planet First! This certification is simple, affordable, and cuts to the core of impact. In Portland, it also helped us connect to a client through the Purchasing with Purpose program: https://lnkd.in/gpbPzKC9, which aims to switch everyday purchases of large organizations to local and conscious options. Sign up to join us in Portland on February 27th from 4-8pm at Place to B (a co-working space for socially conscious organizations)

"Book" club, week 2! This week we are continuing our team dive into Doughnut Economics - a model for those (like us) who are unsatisfied with corporate sustainability, and want to design systems that work for all life to thrive. We are leaning on the voice and ideas of Kate Raworth on The TED Interview, which provides a longer, more in-depth look into her TED talk. #doughnuteconomics #systemschange
The TED Interview: Kate Raworth argues that rethinking economics can save our planet

We had a great time at the Spokane Indians Baseball Club 2024 Redband Rally River Clean Up Day cleaning the Spokane river! It was heartwarming to see our community unite in support of the Spokane River's health. The sunny weather made for a beautiful day by the river. Thank you to everyone who came out and contributed to this important cause!

Congratulations to Gonzaga University and the Gonzaga Institute for Climate, Water, and the Environment on their $20 million grant award from the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)! ?? ?? This incredible funding will: ?Drive local climate resilience by installing 300 heat pumps in low-wealth communities to protect against high heat and wildfire smoke??? ?Support the creation of city-wide resilience hubs and microgrids??? ?Build community capacity for resiliency by providing scholarships for Climate Action Planning Certificate??? This is a monumental achievement for Spokane’s climate resilience community and will have an incredibly positive impact on our city’s health and future. We can’t wait to see these plans in action and are committed to championing Spokane’s climate resilience every step of the way!??? If you want to learn more about shifting to a new economy, Ryan and Emmy are engaging in important and insightful conversations. I highly recommend checking it out, particularly episode 4. And of course, listen to our good friends Jess Baum in episode 2 and Heather Paulsen, MS, PMP in episode 5.
The team at LIFT Economy has just launched an exciting new podcast called “Beyond the B.” Beyond the B is an ongoing discussion about what is working and not working in the #BCorp movement. LIFT team members Emmy (Maria) Allison and Ryan Honeyman facilitate an open and honest conversation about Certified B Corporations, advise companies on how to increase their impact, and provide a deep dive into the new B Corp standards that are shaping our community. Learn more at www.lifteconomy.com/beyond. You can also subscribe on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube, or wherever you get your podcasts!
