?Ending the Wait ?Introducing Mrs. Alice, who turned 96 years old in February. Mrs. Alice has been a member of the White Oak Friendship Cafe for the past 3 years. Mrs. Alice grew up in this very same Green Level community and watched the significant growth, expansion and development from farmlands to suburban neighborhoods. Mrs. Alice is an active, daily participant in the Friendship Cafe programs and enjoys daily exercise, yoga, Zumba, and 3-card Bingo. No longer able to cook, Mrs. Alice is grateful for the daily meals served at the Cafe. She tells us that socialization is very important to her and that the Friendship Cafe is a wonderful outlet to meet other people and share life stories; like how she overcame the struggles of the Civil Rights movement. She proudly says that every day she wakes up, her intention is to make her community a better place. Thanks to your support, we will continue to #EndTheWait for social connection and nutritious meals for seniors like Mrs. Alice!

"If I didn't have this, I don't know what I would do. You're at an age where you don't want to beg- you've got pride." For seniors like Joanne, resources are often scarce. For far too long, the pressing needs of the senior population have been underfunded and ignored, leaving older Americans waiting for nutritious meals and human connection. At Meals on Wheels of Wake County, our program is being stretched to its financial limit to accommodate every senior who needs our services without incurring a waitlist. As the largest Meals on Wheels chapter in the state we know that without increased support from the Older Americans Act (OAA), or donors like you, we may face pullback of our services. As our federal funding faces uncertainty, we look to our community for support. The need has never been greater, but together, we can End the Wait. #EndTheWait
