Delivering meals and so much more...®

关于我们

Meals On Wheels of Tarrant County promotes the dignity and independence of older adults, persons with disabilities, and other homebound persons by delivering nutritious meals and providing or coordinating needed services. The meals, daily contact by caring volunteers, and professional case management allow frail, homebound clients to remain living independently in their own homes... where they want to be. A volunteer force of over 5,200 caring individuals delivers meals to 2,500 people who truly need our help in neighborhoods throughout Tarrant County. Volunteers also deliver blankets, fans, supplemental groceries, medical equipment, microwave ovens, and other items essential to help clients maintain their independence, along with food for their companion pets. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization that has operated independently in Tarrant County since 1973.

  • Even though the holidays are behind us, we wanted to share this heartwarming story. Last week we received a call from one of our clients, Mr. Thomas and he shared a short story about one of our amazing volunteers. Mr. Thomas said that one his regular volunteers, Mrs. Rachel called him on Christmas Day to wish him a Merry Christmas and then asked if it would be ok to come by for a visit. Mr. Thomas said yes of course. Mrs. Rachel arrived to see Mr. Thomas and was accompanied by her entire family. He was so happy to see her and her family and was thankful that they came over and visited for a while. Their visit really meant a lot to him. Just another example of how great our volunteers are and the joy they bring to our clients every day.

  • Dear Friends, Many of you have read information or heard rumors related to the President’s executive order pausing federal grants. We have already received a number of inquiries from concerned individuals and media outlets regarding this matter. We understand that this may be concerning to you and want to share what we know so far. We can tell you that nationwide, 37% of all Meals On Wheels funding comes from federal grants. The President’s memo is very vague, so Federal, State and local officials are scrambling to interpret its meaning. On the surface, the only exception to the pause seems to be direct payments to individuals, such as Social Security payments. As you can imagine, we’re very concerned about this action and are awaiting more information. We’ve already reached out to some of our local officials asking for a clarification. Plus, Meals On Wheels America and Meals On Wheels Texas, two advocacy organizations, are working with elected officials on a State and Federal level to emphasize the importance of continuing to fund programs like Meals On Wheels without interruption.   That said, we really don’t have any additional information to share at this time. As we learn more, we will keep you posted. For now, we are focused on providing our clients with the care they need. Several of you have already asked what you can do to help. Frankly, we just don't have enough information at this point to determine our next steps. If needed, we will reach out to you again to share ways you can help. In the meantime, we want to thank you for your concern for Meals On Wheels of Tarrant County and the homebound, elderly and disabled clients we serve.

  • Thanks to support from Meals on Wheels America and the generous funding from The Home Depot Foundation, Meals On Wheels of Tarrant County was able to enrich the life of one of our Veteran clients. The Vietnam War Veteran needed his porch railing repaired and a ramp to assist with safely entering and exiting his home, and we were eager to help. A heartfelt thank you to Meals on Wheels America and The Home Depot Foundation for providing the funds to ensure this veteran can remain safe and healthy in his home. #HomeDepotFoundation and #TeamDepot

  • This morning, State Senator Kelly Hancock and his wife, Robin, visited Meals On Wheels of Tarrant County and then delivered a nutritious meal and a Christmas present to 98-year-old Meals On Wheels client and WWII Navy Veteran Mr. Davis. Among other responsibilities, Senator Hancock serves as Chairman of the Senate Veteran Affairs Committee, so he enjoyed chatting with Mr. Davis about his time on a Destroyer in the Pacific during WWII. As with all of our veteran clients, we are so grateful for Mr. Davis' service to our country. We also want to extend a special thanks to Senator and Mrs. Hancock for helping us spread a little Christmas cheer to our homebound clients during the holiday season.

  • A great big thank you to each and every one of you that contributed to our Silver Santa campaign this year. It was a huge success and every wish was granted! Another big thank you to all of our volunteers that helped to distribute the gifts on Saturday. You all made our clients have a really happy holiday. Also, a big shout out to our Meals On Wheels staff that put in a lot of time and effort to ensure all of the wishes were fulfilled.
