After retiring from his full-time job, he joined the MOWCTX family as a substitute driver. ?? So, why Meals on Wheels Central Texas? “For me, it’s simple. The organization’s impactful work deeply resonates with me, providing a meaningful way to spend my time and give back to the community.” ?? ??Volunteer Spotlight ?? ??I began volunteering with Meals on Wheels in Florida in 2019, and later continued my journey by joining Meals on Wheels Central Texas in September 2024. After retiring in 2019, I found myself eager to do more than just the usual chores around home. Seeking fulfillment, I looked for volunteer opportunities. I applied to help with IT at a food bank but didn’t hear back. That’s when I discovered Meals on Wheels. In addition to delivering meals, I took on administrative tasks and worked on updating systems. ?I'm still volunteering today because it's so essential! Many individuals struggle to provide for themselves or lack transportation, and they eagerly await our visits, as they often feel isolated. ??For me, volunteering is not just a way to help—it's also a chance to get out, stay active, and contribute to the community.
